USC coach Pete Carroll has said freshman running back Joe McKnight would try to practice this week in an attempt to be ready for the opener. McKnight has missed 10 days because of a stretched knee ligament.

Stretched knee ligament! Oh no! They're only 6 deep in practice now! What will they do? What will they do!?

August 27, 2007  11:58 AM ET

Why would you play this guy against Idaho? Why play Idaho?

August 27, 2007  01:20 PM ET

This probably says something more about McKnight and his desire to play than Carroll actually playing him. He'd be dumb to play him at this stage of the season against the Spuds.

I hope he gets to feeling better by the Hawaii game....I hear that one is going to be a pivotal turning point on the road to the National Championship.

orly?

August 27, 2007  04:03 PM ET

Nebraska will be the statement game one way or another.

August 27, 2007  04:43 PM ET

I'm going to be the starting running back at U.S.C. if this continues. I've already graduated from college, but like that 59 year old playing D-3 I still got eligibility.

USC sucks......Bring IT

August 27, 2007  06:46 PM ET

Carroll's gotta be considering playing McKnight for one reason, building his confidence. What better team to build confidence against than a division 1 doormat.

August 27, 2007  10:01 PM ET

do work son......ur out for blood huh? lol

August 28, 2007  12:46 PM ET

SCalltheway,
Yeah, but he could reinjure that knee ligament and be out for the season. As it looks, this kid does not lack for confidence. Then again, he's surrounded by a s******d of swagger in Exposition Park.

USC's problem may be that they have too much individual talent and not enough chemistry. It's like the reverse concept of what Notre Dame does. ND fills their roster with All-Americans with decent academic performances, bunches them together and never builds that elite team. Whereas Southern Cal goes straight after the 5-star recruits and expects them to synergize perfectly under Pete Carroll. That's made them get big-headed and sleepy during the season.

This just in: Moody to FLA.

August 29, 2007  11:51 AM ET

When have you seen USC "big-headed and sleepy" if there is one thing that PC does well is keep his team hungry and always ready to dominate.

August 29, 2007  12:39 PM ET

No chemistry, You are a fool you southsider, USC chemistry is great. They all get along, and they all hang out. Ive been to the practices and they are a team, which is what PC teaches.

2 losses for So. Cal last year (Oregon St. and UCLA). How does that happen when you're USC? Even with the untouchable Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart, that program nearly blew it with the Fresno States and Stanfords.

OR maybe they're not THAT great. If the whole world tells USC that they're the best, then how does that set up if LSU meets- what's his name, booty?-in the Sugar Bowl. A PC crash; that's what's going to happen. Does anyone remember the 41-14 Fiesta Bowl last year?

Hey, it's not my problem the preseason #1 didn't win the national title in 4 out of the last 5 years. It's also not my problem that I don't have kids that look like Rex Grossman.
