10:56 AM ET 05.04 | If Major League Baseball has its way, the Yankees and Red Sox would play exhibition games in China and open the regular season in Japan next year. According to people close to the talks between MLB, the Red Sox and Yankees, there is still ground to cover before a deal is struck. If the Yankees don't do get on board, the Dodgers are willing to fill the spot in China, although its unclear if the Dodgers-Red Sox games would be strictly exhibitions.

Personally why would they want too? The players want to open in their own parks. Home field advantage is key. The hours the teams would play against each other makes for viewership to be hard. People like me look forward to watching opening day in the afternoon or early evening, NOT EARLY A.M.

Real Yankee fans would get great frequent flyer miles. :-P

there's no way this should happen. it's the red sox and yanks. those games need to be played here in the states. greatest rivalry in all sports

If the Chinese want to see Major League Baseball they can either get DirecTV, Dish Network, or a flight to any major US city. This is a bad idea and should be DOA.

As baseball continues to expand into a truly world sport, the greatest rivalry in all of sports seems to me to be a great way to show off what is the best about this sport. Eventually, the world series will truly be a World Series.

STUPID!!!!!!!!

They've tried this before, when the Yanks played the D-Rays in Japan a couple years ago. I remember that the players hated it (I think Mussina or someone also became sick) and games were on here at 7 in the morning. Why can't they just do the same thing they do every fall in Japan, and have a collection of MLB All-Stars play China's best players?

Quite a few Asian players on both teams. Would definitely help the visibility of the sport around the world even more.
