Nothing on Wednesday changed Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis' code of silence when it comes to naming his starting quarterback. But for what it's worth, two Internet blogs -- one of which was AOL Sports -- published what they say is a reproduction of comments on Demetrius Jones' facebook.com page that congratulate him on earning the starting gig for Saturday's opener against Georgia Tech.

I'm guessing they promised Charlie all the ice cream he can eat, if he gave him the scoop on the starter.

August 30, 2007  09:15 AM ET

Does it really matter? They won't do any better than 6-6 no matter who is running the offense.

August 30, 2007  09:31 AM ET

Charlie Weis is really starting to bother me. the self-proclaimed football genius + his secret quarterback derby among 2 overhyped prospects. like anyone who's not at home polishing their 'golden dome' really cares. him + nick Saban should start their own self-important **** club. get over yourselves - you're only football coaches.

Bla Bla Bla...... you people are making me sick!!!

Facebook???? You have to be kidding!!

People, Saturday is only a few days away. If you want to know who the QB is then watch the **** game.... if not then don't .

So grow up.

Oh, Sexton, you silly little fella. Go take a xanax and cheer up a little. G Tech is going to punk the Irish no matter what.

August 30, 2007  10:15 AM ET

Ok Im gonna have to agree with Sexton on this, wait two days and then talk, facebook? really, maybe you can add him as your friend and find out for yourself....

August 30, 2007  10:23 AM ET

Outside of Indiana..does anyone really care?

August 30, 2007  10:25 AM ET

I like the Irish.......I will say this....They will not go over .500 and they will struggle.

Weis will bring in more talent and better recruits. The problem with Notre Dame has been speed....and less face it........Less Black players and more White players.......

If Notre Dame doesn't lower its Academic standards....in this day and age......it will be very diffucult to find the talent neccessary to win.

Say what you want.....but this is true.

Yes it is America's Legend. School can get in the way of college, especially athletically.

I think it was a Navy coach a couple seasons back who commented on their opposition's RB being so fast. He attributed it to the kid being black, and he said something like, 'We need to get one of those.' Good stuff, but true.

"If Notre Dame doesn't lower its Academic standards....in this day and age......it will be very diffucult to find the talent neccessary to win."

It is true that Notre Dame has tough academic standards but they do lower their standards for football recruits.
Last years recruiting class included rob hughes who had a GPA of 2.5 and an ACT score of 17. Notre Dame turned down one of the seniors at my high school that had a 3.8 and a 33 ACT.

Man it all starts today, you know you got it bad when you can't wait for the Tulsa vs Louisiana-Monroe game on ESPN2 at 4:00!
GO WARHAWKS!

GM the Truth,

I actually care. I wanted to see Pickle Boy start his march towards irrelevancy by getting sacked and sacked before and after incompletions and underthrows. Granted, he might actually one day play and live up to his hype, but I wanted to see him thrown to the wolves early.

August 30, 2007  11:27 AM ET

I've seen Jones' Facebook page, and nobody said anything definite. Just a two or three non-ND football people saying that they heard rumors and at least 15 saying that they hope he's the starter.

Besides, Double D is the fan favorite of the three QB's; just about everyone here on campus would love to see him win the job. Even though he played badly in the open practice on Sunday night, he received the biggest ovation when he trotted onto the field.

August 30, 2007  12:05 PM ET

Ok, facebook.com...that's the source? Some college kids posting on their facebook page? Sounds reliable...

August 30, 2007  01:24 PM ET

i dont know how accurate a facebook.com page can be
I heard Charlie Weis' Match.com page lists his body type as: "athletic"

August 30, 2007  01:45 PM ET

duany, thats as good as i've heard all day LOL!

August 30, 2007  02:42 PM ET

Demetrius Jones.... What to say? He is under so much pressure now.

But, I think he will handle it well. He was a phenomenal ball player in high school. I am pulling for the guy and for the whole Irish team, except on Saturday's against MSU or UM. Their expectations are so high, but they are having a lot of trouble putting a good team out on the field.

August 30, 2007  02:56 PM ET

michigan68-maybe the guy from your school wasn't good enough to play for the Irish. I know Hughes wasn't great in school, but the Irish took him anyways. One little case of lowering standards. We aren't becoming Miami or Florida State or anything.

August 30, 2007  03:25 PM ET

I just wanna see Jimmy in those skin-tight football pants!!!!

jayhawkfan11 - Dude, you seem to know your pills very well. Whatever gets you though your day! My point was get over this " I heard it was Jones from facebook or myspace said it's Sharpley crap! By the way why are you even on fannation's college football page? Basketball starts in a few months, oh I forgot your jayhawks suck at that too!

Hey, maybe as the games are played people will talk about FOOTBALL and WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS ON THE FIELD. Not "your team sucks, they wont win 5 games this year"

Say all you want, the GAME IS ON SATURDAY!!!!
