07:15 AM ET 06.19 | The Los Angeles Lakers' latest title brings up some important questions about the importance of role players in a dynasty. Most importantly, how much value should be put in their contribution? Some are now asking the question, should Derek Fisher have his number retired by the Lakers? At first glance, the answer is no. Fisher is not in the same category as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, Magic Johnson, Jerry West and others. But it's hard to argue with what Fisher has contributed to the Lakers: he has been on five championship teams, as many as Kobe Bryant, Kareem and Magic. At the end of the day titles matter and Fisher has contributed to a handful of them.

What about Michael Cooper? He should have his number 21 hanging high above in the Staplescenter. One of only three players to be apart of all five championships in the 1980's.

Derek Fisher #2 will be retired that's a no-brainer. Derek is the heart and soul of the Ko P. DeLA-Ron Lakers. Ko P. DeLA-Ron is the signature nickname for the 6 core players that make up this current championship squad. Ko- Kobe, P-Pau, De-Derek, L-Lamar, A-Andrew, and Ron-Ron. LA also represents the city of Los Angeles and Laker fans.
