Bengals to trade veteran lineman?
Levi Jones, 13 months after signing a six-year contract extension worth more than $40 million with the Bengals, wondered late Friday night about his future with the team. Since he has returned to practice, Jones has worked behind second-year lineman Andrew Whitworth at left tackle. "Who knows? Maybe there's a trade in the works," Jones said. Asked then if he would welcome a trade, Jones said, "I want to be somewhere I get a fair shot." Jones said he has received no direction or information from coaches about his role this coming season.

bengals have an ir list a mile long. levi wasnt 100% most of pre-season and bengals choose to sit him to let him heal up. the trade comment was an offhand joke he made sitting in front of his locker.

Do the people at the "Cincinnatti Enquirer" even pay attention up there?
Brand new contract and he's the best lineman the Bengals have. This one deserves a "DUH". No chance he gets traded.

Maybe he got lost and ended up at the Browns camp, and they don't even know who this guy is.

He was just venting....the Bengals webpage said he was JOKING when he said it. This is a perfect example of how things get blown up by the media.

Maybe Kansas City could use some help on the line and they have quite a few extra picks.

not sure kc could afford the price. b/c the bengals wouldnt listen for less than three 1st round picks. this is like some reporting kc being ready to trade will shields in his prime for just the sake of trading him. forget about the cap hit or the line that has been built around him.
we'll just give will shields away for free.
switch to 2007, bengals starters, willie anderson (aging but prime) and levi jones (prime) are the anchors of the o-line that is expected to protect carson for the next 5+ yrs. they gave up steinbach in the offseason b/c the bengals couldn't afford levi and steinbach. you know when they signed levi to the new long term deal? last year before training camp was over. there was no doubt in the front office as to which bengal was expendable on the o-line. he plays in cleveland now. levi is the hand picked guy to be the guy once big willie retires.

I think they should flat out release him and sign Tony Mandarich.

Levi we would very much like to have you in Miami I think you would add punch to our O-line.

MardDinNJ, even if they were going to trade him they wouldn't trade him for Eli. Maybe you've heard of a guy called Carson Palmer. They have a QB who Eli will never measure up to. No need for a high priced backup. But as the story states. It was a joke. He's going nowhere.

Levi, just a quick note to you, pay attention. Shut the eff up, play football and earn your money. Joking or not, this is a perfect example of causing a distraction, be a team player.
