Jazz senior vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor is still on vacation, but two players he plans on talking about once he returns are Linton Johnson III and Eric Williams, agent Mark Bartelstein said. Johnson and Williams are possibilities should O'Connor opt to shake up his roster with a trade in September.

I talk a lot of smack on this blog, and I'm not particularly a Jazz fan per say but if there is one coach that I respect and can't muster an unkind word for,its Sloan....he virtually had to rebuild his team after the Malone/Stockton tantem left and look at them....they get Boozer, the point guard played solid and the team exceeded my expectations...I attribute this to a great job by Coach Sloan....however...Go Celtics!!!!

Johnson and Williams ... BOLD moves!!! I'm waiting on the edge of my seat (yawn)

The title is very inappropriate. You don't call adding those guys a roster shake-up.

I give thumbs up to Utah for the way then handeled the D.Fish situation. What a classy group in Utah.I'm a laker fan but i will never froget how they helped him out.Great jod sloan and everyone else involved.Truly classy!

Wow what a roster shakeup! I cannot barely contain my enthusiasm.

This doesn't sound like a roster shake-up to me, either. The Jazz did just fine in the finals last year, they just need someone in the middle to help out more and become dominant. Basically, someone to contain Duncan.

Jazz containing Duncan!!!! containing Duncan!!! I dont even know where to start to tell whats wrong with your statement.

First there is very few players that can contain Duncan (if that is even possible) or even come close.

Second the even if Duncan was out of the picture, there was this little known speedy pg by the name of Parker, you might have heard of him he's the NBA Finals MVP, who took the Jazz apart in the playoffs. Who's going to contain him? And if you say D' Fish I will bust out laughing, Parker ran circles around D'Fish. Although, I do like D'Fish he is one of the few classy players that came from the Lakers.

Third playing against Manu and Tony without Duncan is still no easy task. So the Jazz will still have a tough time getting past the Spurs.

Oh one more thing Greg Pop would have figure the Jazz's weaknesses anyways and exploit them. I'm not taking anything way from Sloan he is consider of the best Coach in the league.

My point. Even with Duncan out of the picture Spurs will still be more than a formidable team for the Jazz. Jazz will get better with time but dont think for one sec they can handle the Spurs in the Playoffs right now.

P.S Dont bother pointing out that this has nothing to do with the article I was just responding to Cyn10's statement

Kevin O'connor is one of, if not THE smartest guy in NBA. They do well each year and rebuilding was a suprise to all, except him. And they do it all in Friggin' Utah of all places. Standing applause!!!

GMs are stupid, why the hell would u "shake the roster up" when it lead u to the confrence finals for the fist time since the Stockton-Malone era?

September 3, 2007  06:57 PM ET

Linton who? Eric what? Granted I didn't see Utah play much before the playoffs, but the only Williams I saw play was named Deron, and he is the truth.

By the way, big props to Utah for how they handled Derek Fisher's situation. I was impressed by their ability to put their player's needs above their own.

yeah what are the jazz mad about excactly??????? They overachieved had a great draft(almond) and with a couple more big men should be able to get to the Finals!!! Stud PG+StudPF=Conference finals

It will be interesting to see who is the shake up with a trade with maybe gira or collins, i really dont know. Maybe a sign and trade with CJ Miles and or Dee Brown

Who cares about these moves, as long as they keep a hold of D-Will and Booze, they will have a chance to beat anyone, Spurs,Mavs,]Suns included. Big things will come if they keep those 2 stars. They 2 guard spot is/was their only weakness, hopefully Almond/, Giracek or Brewer will step up.
