Texas has suspended senior receiver Billy Pittman for the first three games of the 2007 season for breaking NCAA rules by borrowing a friend's car this summer. UT officials said the person who allowed Pittman to use the car was not connected to the university, but they didn't identify the person. Pittman characterized the person as "a friend." The school alerted the NCAA and imposed the three-game suspension.

Every year Texas is ranked in the top 5, but they never seem to finish there...hmmm?

September 1, 2007  10:18 AM ET

Friend = Booster. Texas is trying to jump on this and satisfy the NCAA so they won't look any further into it.

September 1, 2007  12:15 PM ET

AT ... are we suffering from memory loss? I kinda remember something about the 'Horns winning the national championship, oh, about 2 years ago.

September 1, 2007  02:30 PM ET

Hey let that man use the car.....who cares....i think colleges players should be given something to live on......that lil change they get isnt enuff....before u start with regular students....some of those students go to school becoz of the sports programs.....he took a car wooooo....slap him on the wrist and get ova it

September 1, 2007  03:49 PM ET

I think they need to reveal who the friend is. Was it a family friend or does this "friend" just happen to own a car dealership or something like that?

September 1, 2007  09:59 PM ET

He was kickin' it with Crazy Eddie, the used car salesman ...

September 2, 2007  04:38 AM ET

This ridiculous incident really says more about NCAA policies than the behavior of Billy Pittman or the Horns.

September 2, 2007  12:49 PM ET

I hate the Horns, but I'm much more interested in finding out whether that kid from OU stealing the gas was given those activation codes by a booster.

September 2, 2007  04:59 PM ET

didn't a sooner recruit just get caught stealing bullets from a gang member in houston.

September 3, 2007  12:28 PM ET

ARod. That's pretty crass considering that kid died.

September 3, 2007  11:30 PM ET

What does a Sooner recruit being shot to death have to do with a Texas player being suspended? Anyway, Oklahoma wins the Big 12 again this year.

September 4, 2007  01:06 AM ET

Unless the car belonged to someone who was in a capacity to be considered a booster or "friend of the program", what was the big deal anyway? Don't the goose-steppers who run the NCAA have anything better to do?

And I'm a Sooner fan...

September 4, 2007  02:35 AM ET

A-rod comments like that should get you suspended from the community, that is totally uncalled for. But what I think this moron was trying to say was that the Sooners were trying to get the NCAA to allow them to do a fund raiser to help pay for the kids funeral that was shot. So then why wouldn't borrowing a car be allowed under the same rules? I go to UT and some of those athletes go crazy down here, especially on 6th street. That is why UT officials were trying to get this one under control because of the hellacious off-season they had.

September 4, 2007  02:54 AM ET

No, what i was trying to say is the recruit STOLE bullets from some citizen and did not return them, pittman returned the car.

September 4, 2007  03:16 AM ET

you gotta be kidding me.....

September 4, 2007  03:26 AM ET

Your choice of words shows you to be very clever, a-rod. Very witty, capitalizing the word "stole". We get the joke now. You should try taking your finger out of your eye when you write posts. It makes typing much less painful, and your caretaker might let you watch TV Land after your nap.

Hey Auburn...Horns were 05' National Champs...Got memory? I'll give you bad year last year though...Lost one of the best QB's of all time and 7 other players to the NFL...

Sooner..you're team just got owned by Colorado...Looks like the Horns for Big 12 championship
