06:15 AM ET 07.02 | Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe's intense efforts to keep the Big 12 viable are illustrated in e-mails obtained by The Dallas Morning News via an open records request to Texas Tech. Entitled "The Case for the Big 12 Conference," Beebe explored the division of revenue and touted that the Pac-10's revenue distribution results in a more disparate situation than in the Big 12. "In most years USC receives twice that of Washington State," Beebe wrote. Beebe painted the Big Ten as a risky league to join because of its geographic footprint in the upper Midwest, where population is declining. As for the Pac-10, Beebe warned against the time zone and travel issues and even the student-athlete and fan experience. "The facilities and fair weather fans are a disappointment," Beebe wrote.

THe Big 10's population is declining, but what Beebe ignores is the fact that that these people don't disappear, they move to other areas of the country so the demand for all things Big 10 grows. Since the Big 10 institutions are, for the most part, freaking huge. It leads to extremely high demand for hte product.

So some dude presented arguments why it was better to preserve his job than to make it go away? Really? Damn, I'm shocked.Beebe, you little twerp, how come you were able to get a new TV contract when it meant saving your job, but not before? And why did you publicize what was supposed to be confidential negotiations? Specifically, the offer by some schools to forego their share of the NE and CO penalty money. That public embarrassment was not freakin' necessary. Texas and Zero U declined the offer, anyway. And we're hopin' the College Station sheep molesters will show a little class and do the same. Really bad form, Beebe. didn't help with feelings that were already raw.

Does anyone know if there is a deadline for aTm to decide on the money? I didn't think it had even been paid yet.

I wish the college football season could be cancelled. It is extremely boring.
