06:29 AM ET 07.02 | The Knicks sold basketball -- but they also sold being a billionaire. Led by owner James Dolan, team president Donnie Walsh and coach Mike D'Antoni, the Knicks held their long-anticipated meeting with LeBron James yesterday. It lasted two hours, and the major themes were New York's endless energy -- and the chance for "The King'' to reap as much as $1.94 billion in salary (from a five-year max deal) plus endorsements if he bolts Cleveland and finishes his career with the Knicks.

The next A-Rod...and he wont win a championship under Mike D'Antoni's system...

The important question is does LBJ believe them. He knows his recent Nike deal was a pay cut over his last one and also the McD's deal he signed was much smaller then before. In other words the endorsement deals just aren't what they used to be, for anyone. Going to be hard to believe them when he is taking cuts in his current deals.

I would love to know how the Knicks can help make Lebron 1.94 billion in 5 years.

Me too. He would have to triple Tiger Wood's best endorsement year every year for the next 5. Maybe it's possible but I just can't imagine it.

If that was the knicks plan and a big part of their presentation Donnie Walsh and Coach Dandummy should be fired right now! ....l

these people are that cocky they believe that ....again if thats their pitch everyone involved in that pitch should be fired, GM, coach, hell Allen Houston at whatever the hell he does with the organization, hell they should fire the person who arranged the flight to Cleveland .....

Your mind is very shallow to say the least. Knicks hired an independent marketing research firm to investigate the feasibility of Lebron making that billion dollar he wanted to make playing basketball and the result is 1.94 billion which will make him richer than Gilbert and some small cities and states. He will also be playing with a legit championship team while collecting the dough. If that's not enough for him then I don't know what else he wants in this world but whatever he decides to do I can dig it.

A-rod has already won a championship with the Yankees.

WOW, 1.94 billion in NYC over 700 million in CLEV, 690m only in Chicago?, 600m in Miami, all numbers from a Marketing consultant commissioned by the Knicks,.....who Bernie Madoff.

No number on the Nets

Win a championship under D Antonio is not the problem. His attitude wont let him win a championship. Too busy dancing, clapping chalk into the sky and worried about how good he looks.
Money will just make him weaker. When you have people around, wanting the wipe the **** off his ****, he will never toughen up.

Read the NYPost article. It breaks it down.

Here is a question for you....If Shaq won 3 championships in Orlando and not LA, do you think he would have been as popular? No.

All Lebron has to do is win 1 championship in NY and his legend will only grow larger and his wallet thicker.

we will see soon enough...i wonder what your tone will be like if he doesnt sign

The only way he becomes a billion dollar athlete is if he wins multiple rings. The Knicks play too small a lineup and can't play defense. I really don't even see how the offensive system helps Lebron, he was playing with nothing but perimeter shooters and an aging post up player in Shaq. So in New York it will be perimeter shooters with a possible free agent post option but you will play at a faster pace, please the Knicks are toast.
