08:40 AM ET 07.03 | The Flyers are in "exploratory" talks with at least one NHL club about trading Simon Gagne, who has a no-trade clause, according to one NHL source. It is believed the Flyers would deal the 30-year-old to Los Angeles.

This would actually make more sense than breaking the bank, wrecking your cap and disrupting your locker room by bringing in Kovalchuk. It might also rejuvenate Gagne's career. The guy has talent. He just needs to stay healthy.

Don't know why the Flyers would want to move Gagne, the only way you make that kind of trade is if your going to get the following:

1. A great draft pick, likely a first round pick.
2. Doughty or Jack Johnson, plus a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Sorry HTG the one GM that might give you your wishes isn't in California anymore.

My thoughts exactly. Carter? Sure. But, Gagne? Doen't make much sense unless they get similar value in return.

Didn't know you guys thought so highly of Gagne. Don't get me wrong, I like him. I wouldn't mind seeing him in L.A. either.

Wow, Doughty plus a pick for Gagne. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. Maybe Sutter would do this but any GM, heck anyone with eyesight wouldn't make that deal. Overvalue Gagne much.

Gagne gave wings to the Flyers when he came back from injury. L.A. will benefit from his experience.

Because the Kings have even sniffed the possibility of the playoffs, since when???

Really, the Kings are the 5th best team in LA!!

# 1 - LA Lakers
# 2 - USC Trojans
# 3 - LA Dodgers
# 4 - LA Angeles
# 5 - Kings

Gagne knows how to play in the toughest market in the NHL, Philadelphia, where the expectations to win are constant.

The Flyers have been in the playoffs 12 out of the last 13 years and Gagne has been a very big part of that.

Gagne is great for the Flyers, giving him away to the Kings is crazy with out getting great compensation back.

Very true. And I thought Halak handled it very well whereas Price still hasn't figured it out. I still say they got rid of the wrong G up there.

HA!

Doughty is the best defenseman in hockey at age 20.

And I think Toronto is tougher than Philly.

I wonder if Toronto could get in on this. They want to shade salary, so it would have to be a pick or prospect for Gange, so maybe the Leafs can trade a solid prospect for Gange, and then try regaining a prospect in the Kaberle trade.

I don't think that's true at all. Leafs fans take losing too easily. A lot of players underperform or just vanish altogether in Toronto without consequences. It's the mind set of the entire Leafs organization. As long as they're making money, they don't give a sheyet. Can Burke change that? I'm not so sure.

I don't think the Flyers can afford him next year when his contract is up. Carter, Giroux and Leino need new deals then too. Homer may as well dangle him and see what he's offered.

And you want to keep Giroux and Leino. You can have a pretty good team for a long time with these two guys in your lineup.

Gotta agree with you on this one Argos. The kid is scary, scary good. The Kings won't trade him for a six-pack of Gagnes.

You don't get a private life in Toronto, and the media is crazy.

I wouldn't trade Doughty for a single player in hockey, not even Ovechkin or Crosby.

I'd have to think about that one. I know Sid scored "the Golden Goal" but Doughty was one of, if not the best, Canadian player at the Olympics.

Agreed, Doughty was one of the best, and the other best were Toews and Weber.

Doughty is my favourite player, and I there is no one I rather have than him.
