Leach writing book on Tech controversy

09:14 AM ET 07.03 | What's down the road for Mike Leach, 49, is anyone's guess. He's embroiled in a nasty multi-million dollar lawsuit against Texas Tech for defamation of character, fraud and for firing him without cause. But Leach, who is Tech's all-time winningest coach with an 84-43 record and 10 bowl appearances in 10 seasons, is optimistic about being back on the sideline for the 2011 season. For now, Leach is living the tropical life, recharging his batteries and working with writer Bruce Feldman on a book, in which he'll likely tackle topics such as his fascination with pirates, and why he had to walk the plank at Tech.

I beat my students, put them in locked rooms, got fired for it, now need money so I am writing a book about it.

And, I remain convinced that this is a soap opera with no good guys in it. Not Leach, not the Tech brass, certainly not James or his pup.

I think you are in the majority on this.

Just curious...what students did Leach beat? What locked rooms did he put them in? Is there another story here that we don't know about?

I see Tech spent very little time trying to CREATE controversy again with Tuberville

BTW....It sounds like a place you go to if you a bit chunky......

His story sounds better than reality. Let him go for it. He's on a roll.

True that, but it is idiots like him/her that get things all out of perspective. Just check facts is all I ask...is that so hard, Home?

How dare you all insult the best coach in all the land. I love Mike Leach. Remember what happened to Michigan State after the regular season? No? Exactly. Quite a few of the players had a brawl at a Potluck dinner which led to mass suspensions and players being kicked off the team. It was an embarassment of epic proportions. We draw Tech in the Alamo and I am thinking "Oh bleep." This is all ESPN will talk about during the Alamo and Michigan STate will come out of this with two black eyes....and then Shedgate.

In a week Leach took MSu from the biggest controversy of bowl season to a footnote. We barely got mentioned during the Alamo. They mentioned Survivor Series the Frathouse version but then went right back to Shedgate. You would have barely known anything ahppened after MSU's regular season. Anyway, that is why I love the fat pirate known as Leach.

I thought most everything but the breach of contract allegation got tossed out. He'll most likely win on that one, in my opinion, but prob'ly nothing else. And, I remain convinced that this is a soap opera with no good guys in it. Not Leach, not the Tech brass, certainly not James or his pup.

Agree completely.

Bruce is really lucky to be conversating with the erudite Mr. Leach about his experiences with the James gang.

TT keeps appealing the ruling, that Leach can sue. TT is getting ready to cough up some dough. Dumbazzes, fired their best coach ever, for a James! GEESH!

They have a thing against pirates.....
Most countries (i.e. USA) just shoot them in the head and get it over with....
Especially if they are of the Somalia type

By "Bruce" I presume you mean Feldman? But what does the rest of the post mean?

Sorry, I don't get it. If it's meant as some form of sarcasm,, it flew right through my ears without hitting anything.

I mean, I know who Leach is, and I know who Feldman is, but I don't know the connection to "erudite" (the goddess of vocabulary) or "James gang" (as in Joe Walsh, et al, or the James-Younger gang of the 19th century). Are Craig James and his son some form of comparable gang (or Cleveland rock band)? Explain.
