Capello: I got World Cup preparation wrong

You certainly got something wrong, Fabio. Maybe you should have played some of the young guys like Hart, Johnson, and company.

Is it that hard to just say the other teams were better because they are better? Better players, better coaching, just better.

While you are correct, he's trying to spin things a particular way. He's representing the English FA's choice to run their entire team/program and therefore he automatically comes with a suitcase full of excuses no matter what happens.

Unfortunately the Mother wants nothing to do with raising the kid, so with him being brought up in Spain and Portugal (at least for the next few years), I kind of doubt he'll feel any connection with the US as he grows up.

I'm no fan of the Lions, but that scoreline against Germany really flattered the black shirts. That game is markedly different if Lamps' goal is counted and England isn't chasing the game and getting picked apart on the counter.

England didn't get dominated nearly the way that Argentina did yesterday. While the tournament wasn't a good showing by England, if Germany goes on to win the tournament as I think they very well might, history will not be as harsh on Capello or this team as opinions are currently.

Let's fast forward 10 yrs from now, when Ronaldo is here in the US. Does baby Ronnie go looking for it's mama? Does USSF start a manhunt for Ronaldo's baby as it beholds the possible future messiah of US Soccer, just in time for WC 2022? I've seen crazier things happen!

Freddy Adu was only 16 and people were really thinkin he had a serious shot at the 2006 roster. Probably more so than he was considered for this year's team. So It's not impossible.

It's not his fault that

a) England has not produced a World Class goalkeeper in over a decade.

b) His two key centerbacks got too injured and too old in the year leading up to the World Cup.

c) England has not produced a World Class holding midfielder in over a decade.

Look at Xavi and Iniesta for Spain, De Jong and Van Bommel for the Netherlands, and Schweinsteiger for Germany. England doesn't have any players who can fill that role. We can even go as far back as last World Cup and look at Makelele for France and Pirlo/Gattuso for Italy.

England went exactly as far in this World Cup as they should have gone. Hard to blame the coach for that. Not Capello's fault England have the most delusional fan base in the world.
