06:43 AM ET 07.06 | The Division I Recruiting and Athletics Personnel Issues Cabinet committee has proposed NCAA legislation to bar early verbal offers of financial aid to students in all sports until July 1 before their senior year. That will end the practice of schools routinely sending out scholarship offers to junior football players right after the February signing day for seniors.

I heard a stat that something like 95% of Mack Brown's verbal commitments actually sign a LOI on signing day. That is simply amazing. Florida has several kids every year that verbally commit, then go elsewhere (for whatever reason).

Rumor is that Adrian Peterson still wore a longhorns t-shirt around and never stopped being a fan even at OU. He just determined OU gave him the greatest chance at success. I for one am grateful he was able to put aside childhood dreams.
That being said, there are those who grew up in Texas hating the horns, kind of a counter-culture kid. Best one that comes to mind was Bosworth (grew up in Irving).

Actually Boz came during a down period. 1983 was the year Switzer almost got fired. Boz came in with others and made it a great decade. Texas was down though. Fred Akers I believe.
