Drivers oppose Chase changes

06:51 AM ET 07.06 | The initial reaction to Brian France's remarks on possible changes to the Chase wasn't overly positive. Denny Hamlin immediately jumped on Twitter to blast any changes, while Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards expressed fear of doing anything too drastic. Current series points leader Kevin Harvick was more cryptic about his opposition toward change. "I have thoughts on it, but I don't know that I should express them," he said. "We'll see what they come up with, (France) knows my thoughts on it."

Couldn't agree more Rick. The racing was just fine before Nascar implimented these stupid rules. I guess BF jr never heard the saying "If it ain't broke don"t fix it."

Hamlin, Johnson, Edwards and Harvick seem to like the Chase as it is. I think they know a bit more about this than we do. Just saying. In fact, I can't recall any driver taking shots at the system. It can't be that they are Nascar lemmings as they are going against Brian on his comments.

They were talking about eliminating drivers after every so many races. Maybe they'll get it to the point like they had it in the movie Cars. Only three cars in a 500 mile race. Now wouldn't that be exciting? Ugh!

the rules of the chase as they exist are stupid, and i really dont have a grasp as to exactly what the rules of the chase are NOW..and they are going to change them again? nascar is sure going in the toilet....the DAytona race did nothing for me, it was like they were racing on ice skates...

Right it was, 10 races / 15 drivers, then 8 races / 10 drivers, 5 races / 5 drivers, then 3 races / 3 driver left for the Championship....So if was the top 3 as of today....all Chevrolet....i can just hear Jack & Joe Gibbs on that happening.....or it could be all Ford show....or all TOY show...Yikes!

Eliminate the Chase completely OR leave it alone.....the proposed changes are RIDICULOUS!
Secondly get rid of the top 35 OR change it to 25 only.

a: stop the 'provisionals'. if guys can't get in on speed, they don't need to be on the track. just because it was good enough for Petty doesn't mean it is good enough for everyone else.
b: stop the 'Chase'. Personally, it killed the chance of a driver as having a great 'regular' season, but ending up just outside the Top 10 during the 'Chase' and not locking up the Cup.

Agreed with Rickapolis. About the only decent suggestion I've heard on the changes is to change the 10 chase tracks every year... but again I also hate the chase.
