07:43 AM ET 07.08 | It was early Wednesday afternoon that Rod Thorn called agent Rob Pelinka and offered his client, power forward Carlos Boozer, a contract worth $75 million to play for the Nets for the next five seasons. Pelinka, who originally asked all bidders for $85 million -- that's just $7 million shy of a maximum-salaried deal -- thanked Thorn and said he would get back to him at the end of the day, according to a Nets official familiar with the negotiation. Two hours later, the Nets learned -- with no warning and no recourse -- that Boozer signed a five-year, $80 million deal with the Chicago Bulls.

Let's see...A playoff team offers you five million more than a lottery team...hmmm. Do you call the lottery team back to see if they can match it....I don't think so.

No, kidding. How are you feeling about Boozer?

I actually think it's better for the nets not to sign a big money guy this year. They should give their young kids another year or two to grow while drafting based on best available and then hit up a scorer or two when they move to Brok-NY. they have some nice pieces that build from and plenty of money. One max guy wont make them anything but a fringe team.

I think he was the best available at the time. I llike the move because now no matter what we came away with something.

Well when and if the Bulls don't pick up Lebron, they should have some serious $$$ to pick up some of the best of the FAs who are left.

Boozer is a Dubag... he did the same thing to the Jazz and he did to Cleveland. he is a mercenary and thats it. I dont know why you leave the BEST PG in the NBA right now to go play in Chitown. Boozer is a joke.

Agree. They are way better off working with their new coach and developing their talent. Not making the playoffs isn't a big deal for them, because it's not like they are going to win the championship, and a good lottery pick could help them build too.

And why would King James want to play with Boozer, Boozer left him hanging the last time they were on the same team. So good job Chicago you get Boozer only to loose out on Lebron

They had to sign him before he signed elsewhere. Obviously there is no way to know where LBJ is going.

YA there is he is not going to play with Boozer after Booz left him hanging in Cleveland. Lebron is not going to Chiago now.

Picking up Boozer didn't cause the Bulls to miss out on Lebron. He had booked this announcement before it was even released that Boozer was going to be a Bull.

Believe me, the Bulls got the OK with Lebron about their FA, just like the Knicks did.

What have the nets done?Who have they signed to play with Boozer?Yes they have the core of Harris,Lee and Lopez but what big name have they signed? They have done nothing. The bulls have a core already.Rose,Deng,Noah.Now all the bulls need is a good shooting guard. At the two guard position if your the bulls you need a guy to make shots for you. They should be after either: Rasual Butler,Korver, maybe give McGrady a chance,Rodney Carney or Antoine Wright. Not really alot of options at the two guard position.

NOT MCGRADY! AUGH!
He and his cousin Vince have overrated and choke in their DNA.

No kidding, if you are the Nets you need to follow the Knicks lead and just come out offering the max.
