Fedor losing title leverage

08:51 AM ET 07.08 | The triangle submission that Fabricio Werdum clamped on Fedor Emelianenko on June 26 has taken some of the bargaining leverage away from the Russian and his M-1 Global handlers in negotiating his next contract. Emelianenko can no longer walk into the UFC and get huge guaranteed money and an immediate title shot against champion Brock Lesnar, as was offered last year. But the Russian, who has one fight left on his Strikeforce contract, retains value in the big picture.

Fedor lost a fight! The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

Get caught in one choke and suddenly you go from caviar and champagne to cold ramen noodles and tapwater.

I still think he is one bad man. Lesnar is just a freak of nature though. Would still like to see them go at it.

This isn't true. How he rebounds will be the subject of curiousity. He goes for FAST finishes in recent years on what even he considers lesser opponents. GSP did the same thing fighting Serra...no game plan, just fight. Fedor losing to Werdum was more of an upset. The article is right, the aura is gone and so the bargaining power drops.

Good... Dana will scoop him up for alot less and sacrifice him to Carwin and Brock to make an example of just how overrated he is/was.... can't wait to see this happen

Bet you a thousand dollars he still won't end up in the UFC.

He can hang around Strikeforce and warm up on Batista.

I am curious to see how this works out for him. I think he will stay with SF. Not too many other big name MMA organizations (DREAM and Bellator) to fight in. Even though I really like Fedor, I am starting to think that he might just get overpowered by Brock. Hell, I don't even think four of me could beat Brock and that is with the 2.0 Ironman suits made by Tony Stark. LOLOL!

I cannot believe how people have jumped all in Fedor's coondingy over this one loss. Everyone gets caught, Fedor himself has never said he was invincible. That's the humblest man in MMA! It's like the MMA world only wants UFC fighters to succeed. Well played Mr. White. The solution is simple..Just win baby. Fedor wins his next few in his usual fashion and he'll be back on everyone's "He's the greatest..I knew it all along" list.

Bandwagons suck. WAR FEDOR!!

...Brock is not invincible. Carwin showed you that. He can't handle the bully treatment he dishes out. The guy is no doubt a freak of nature and put on this earth to do one thing and one thing only...do battle, but he will lose that titile in the next two fights (if they make them). Cain's stamina, hand speed and power could pose a problem..damn good wrestler too. JDS is big, good hand speed, power and good on the ground.

People are always going to have some doubts about him until he steps in and fights some of today's top HW's...He may be the baddest man on the planet but we'll never really know until he fights people like Cain, Carwin, Lesnar, etc... And the same argument can be used for those 3 guys, cause until they beat Fedor there will be some doubts about there legitimacy too. I just wish Dana and Fedor could come to an agreement and get some of these fights done. Fans want these match ups!! I can only imagine the buy rates for those PPV's...Those fights would be ridiculous.

I think if Fedor fights Overeem (253 lbs) and beats him, then many American MMA fans will start to believe that Fedor can hang with the big guys. I know, I know..... Brett Rogers weighs 265, but his body fat % is much, much higher than Overeem's. Brett Rogers looks like a doughboy. Overeem is much more impressive in comparing his muscle mass to Brett's.

LOLOL!!! I know, I know...... Fedor doesn't look impressive physique-wise too, but his record speaks for itself.

I do not know what fight you were watching pal!

Carwin took it to Lesnar and gave him his best shots. Lesnar weathered the storm and won the fight with pure wrestling/technical skills.

I really do not see him losing in the next 2 fights. He just too strong for anyone at the moment.

Fedor is now not undeafted and lost his bargaining chip. Hopefully he wont run Mayweather style from the UFC!
