08:35 AM ET 07.09 | He may be at Southern Cal now, but Tennessee always seems to be on Lane Kiffin's mind. The latest installment came after Kiffin lost defensive end Malik Jackson to UT via transfer. That news had barely settled before Kiffin countered by leaking word that the Vols had turned down an offer to play Southern Cal in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game to start the 2011 season in Atlanta. The implication was clear: With UT deep in rebuilding mode, the Vols were unwilling to face a perennial power like Southern Cal, even on a neutral field. After baiting UT, you could almost hear Kiffin clucking like a chicken in the background.

Tennessee already has two OOC opponents from BCS conferences that year (Cincy and UNC). Sounds like their strength of schedule is just fine for 2011.

I could care less what Kiffen thinks or does. He cam in with all the flair and gave Vols fans hope then left like a coward in the night. I think the sanctions USC was hit with was a fine payback, I do feel for the kids though. Kiffen has a brilliant football mind but has proven in the NFL and the NCAA that he is nothing more than as ****!

I wouldn't exactly call UNC and Cincy tough OOC games. They aren't.
That being said, Lane-O the Clown has once again proven what a childish ass he truly is. If I were a Trogan fan, the thought of Kiffin leading our program would make me puke. This idiot makes SOS look like a model of class and decency.

Tough or not, they are decent BCS conference teams. Cincy was in a BCS bowl last year (hmmm...who did they play?). And UNC (by rumor) is building a good team under Davis.
And WOW....careful EWO....you're saying something nice about "the ol' ball coach".

I will agree that they are decent BCS conference teams. Cincy WAS in a BCS bowl. Think that'll happen again in our lifetimes? I don't. I'll withhold the stellar assessment of Butchie at UNC until they actually DO something.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but, yeah, SOS could teach Lane-O a thing or two. At least when Spur ran his mouth, he was WINNING. The man can COACH. So far, Lane-O has proven that he can run his yap...and that's about it. I already hate this guy.

SteveO ran his mouth with funny jokes (annoying as hell, but funny), but never pulled this bush league BS: False accusations / skipping town in the middle of the night with all your stuff / more false accusations / BS PR baiting tactics and misdirections. Plus SOS backed it up w/ W's. Kiffin's coaching career reminds me of a political campaign. Disgraceful.

It'll be interesting to see what Dooley does with this. The dude just pushed all in with 7-2 off...

Cincy has been to two consecutive BCS games, and I think Butch Davis has UNC on the right track (8-5 the last two seasons).
That is a pretty decent OOC schedule.
(I was wrong yesterday about the home/home vs Oregon-- the Vols play them this season and in 2013.)

I hope Dooley drops the hammer big time.
I think a lot of Vol fans are at the point right now where we wouldn't mind if the punishments he doles out severely hamper the team's chances at even an okay W/L record this season. It's one thing to have a lackluster team representing your Alma Mater, but one that doesn't even attempt to have the appearance of integrity/decency? No thanks.
