09:22 AM ET 07.10 | Might Mike Modano be wearing a Wild sweater the next time? "I spoke with Mike and have spoken with his representative," Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said Friday. "We have expressed interest in speaking with him further once he determines what course of action he wants to take." Modano has spoken with representatives of the Detroit Red Wings and reportedly also is being pursued by the San Jose Sharks.

Didn't Modano say the other day 'Red Wings or bust'? Then again, if someone puts in front of him more money that what would reasonably make sense for his services, he'll accept the offer I bet.

I just hope he does something soon. I'm tired of the interns pressing the refresh button.

Here's hoping some team puts up a better offer than my Wings. Yugh, I don't want this guy in the red & white. I called Minnesota from the day the Stars said they wouldn't re-sign him. Its really the only place that makes sense. But honestly, why DOES anyone want him? Again, he isn't good enough to make a team that didn't qualify for the playoffs last year - which also just happens to be the team he has played for his entire career and is the biggest star to have ever derssed for them. If THAT team doesn't want him, why do any others?

The Sharks I can see - they keep a spot for an old guy next to retirement. The Wings? please no.

and, on further inspection: did they really have to use a picture from 15 years ago when the Stars moved out of Minnesota? I know its a Minny article, but c'mon

Good catch. Maybe the intern who posted that comes from MN and he felt nostalgic.

The news out of Detroit has gone quiet about it. More on Probert than anything else

"More teams pursuing Modano"

Oh, oh! Do I smell a Matts Sundin, Peter Forsberg, Brett Favre melodrama?

It does look like Modano gets his advice from grandpa, doesn't it? He'll never match the quality of the Fa*** soap opera though.

It's not an old pic at all....The Stars came to Minnesota to close out last season, and the Wild put on a celebration for him after the game to surprise him. When he was called to come out of the locker room, he had put on his old North Stars sweater to show his appreciation.

As it should be.

The Madano threads are becoming more and more like Sundin threads, with nothing happening except talk! Play for the Wings like you said, and show us that Americans can stick to their guns unlike Russians!

We should start a pool on which team will be on the next Modano thread .

I'm kinda thinkin' Anaheim could be pretty good fit for Mikey - 'specially if they could swing a Sammy Salo + Ryan Kessler + Nolan Baumgartner, for Corey Perry and Aaron Voros, deal. I figure Less-dano fits just about anywhere that has a bunch of young Amer-we-cans, and a few other quality vets - and, where he could easily segue into an assistant coaching/junior management gig.

I think the Wings went from 'Oh Wow' to oh, well. They can't offer this self-inflated ego all of a sudden more than 1M and of course that's not enough. Maybe he too, can get an hour program for his decision. Detroit needs help on the 'D' from what I watched last season, giving up too many pucks in their own end

You're right, and with Lidstrom being 40, with at least one more season, it gives them the chance to rebuild their blue-line! Howard played great for a rookie!
