Joe Pa still kicks it old school

Penn State coach Joe Paterno has seemingly not changed. He lives in the same cozy ranch-style house and, until recently, walked through campus to work. He turns in most nights around 10:30 while watching game film, pencil in hand. He does not have a cellphone, has never sent an e-mail message. He laughed when the NCAA banned text messaging between coaches and recruits this summer. "I get a big kick out of all the fuss," Paterno said. "I thought it was tech messaging -- T-E-C-H."

The man is pure class. It'll be a shame to see him gone.

Hey, if he wins games, I have no problem with him. He can go as old school as he wants. WE ARE...PENN STATE!

September 6, 2007  09:21 AM ET

Joe will die on the sidelines doing what he loves best. I hope Penn State goes undefeated.

September 6, 2007  09:46 AM ET

Let this be a lesson for the kids....You don't need all that fancy gadgetry to get it done. Joe rolls ole school!

September 6, 2007  10:24 AM ET

This guy has alway had class, even when he was taking crap for losing records, and somebody should tell the sports press in general and ABC in particular to respect this guy all the way. Coaches like him really don't exist in college football anymore.

Joe Pa...please take it easy on the Irish....I'll cheer for you when yall play Michigan....

September 6, 2007  02:41 PM ET

This is why sports fans love Joe Pa and hate Nick (****-Clown extraordinaire) Saban.

September 6, 2007  02:43 PM ET

What!? I can't write A-S-S even with $'s)? Will **** make it through?

September 7, 2007  12:25 AM ET

Class Act, gotta love Joe Pa!

September 7, 2007  12:06 PM ET

When I say Joe-Pa you say Terno! Joe-Pa!

September 7, 2007  02:20 PM ET

Joe-Pa is what class is supposed to look like.... He runs a tight ship and takes no crap off his playerss, it doesn't matter who they are...I'm one Buckeye fan who roots for a team with a legend as a coach.. Go Penn!!!!!

September 7, 2007  06:23 PM ET

Needs to retire, enough said.

September 8, 2007  12:21 AM ET

As a lifelong Badger state resident and fan, I can definitely say that I have great respect for Joe Pa!

September 8, 2007  03:29 AM ET

September 9, 2007  02:46 PM ET

Pitt fan= No like Penn State esp Paterno
Ive give him credit he is a good coach, but he is like 90 and needs to retire so he doesn't die on the sideline. I mean he almost got killed last year during the Wisconsin game.
