10:57 AM ET 07.11 | Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is taking another run at buying a Major League Baseball team. Cuban has emerged as a bidder for the Texas Rangers, joining forces with former sports agent Dennis Gilbert and Texas businessman Jeff Beck to make a play for the bankrupt baseball team, according to a source close to the situation. "I think Cuban is serious," the source said.

Maybe he will do the wonders for them that he has with the Mavericks. Wait....

Good for him. I like owners who actually care about their teams and wear the emotions on their shoulders. We have plenty of rich boring old businessmen in sports ownsership position as it is, I'm hopin he gets this. Maybe he hasn't turned dallas into a title winner, but any dallas fan will tell you that no owner in the NBA cares more for his team than cuban does.

Exactly - and if it isn't going to be Greenburg and Ryan running the team, we wouldn't have a problem with Cuban running it.

If any owner would come down hard on the umpires, it would be the Cuban! Go for it.

Isn't that what Steinbrenner has been doing all these years? Buy everybody seems to hate the guy...

I think Ryan is great for the team-the guy has balls of steel. Ryan and Cuban seems like a great fit and it will be good for Texas.

Sure, maybe Cuban's Mavericks haven't won an NBA title yet, but just remember what they were like before he bought the team. I think either of these ownership groups would be a step forward for the Rangers.

Cuban is a great owner but I'd sure hate to see the front office of the Rangers replaced. The franchise is finally on the right track after 37 years of futility, bad trades, poor player development and only one playoff win...one lousy game? that's all we've won? (in my best Bob Uecker voice)
The Greenberg/Ryan group is the best for the Rangers but Cuban would be a good second choice.

As for the Cuban getting the Rangers ... there's no guarantees he'd keep the current front office ... he'd have a right to make changes ... same with players, so we'd have to see. I'm sure there would be resistance from the "good ole' boys" of baseball, but money talks.

This would be great for MLB and the Rangers but I figure the MLB is too stupid to capitalize on this type of good publicity

Hey Mark Cuban,
The Rangers are in great roster shape. It wouldn't be much of a challenge. You should pass on this opportunity and buy the Royals. We're tired of our owner, the Cardinal fan, Walmart President that does everything for always low prices, always. Please, save us from this fool. The Rangers will be fine, but the Royals may never recover without your help!

of course any Dallas fan will tell you that.....just because an owner isn't a media wh ore does not mean that owner is not passionate about winning

I would love this. However, Ryan has made it very clear that if the Greenburg offer isn't accepted, then he is out.
That's why we are all hoping against hope they are the winning bid.
