07:33 AM ET 07.12 | According to former Bull Chet Walker, King James made a brilliant play, while Dan Gilbert is an "ungrateful ... idiot." James last week used his free agency to defect from his home-state Cleveland Cavaliers to the Miami Heat and join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. "James is a genius for what he engineered with Wade and Bosh," Walker said. "For the first time in league history, players themselves, not an owner or general manager, put together a championship team."

Should I know who Chet Walker is?
Whether or not they have made a brilliant move remains to be seen.
How qualified they are to be making moves and organizing championship teams compared to GMs and Owners remains to be seen as well. I mean wasn't Lebron the GM of the Cavs?

Earth To Chet: Put down the crack pip you old fool. Much like Lebron, the Heat have won jack yet!

We will see, Chet (who, by the way, I am old enough to remember watching as a player...)

its funny the verbs they use when describing lebron going to MIA

defect, abandon, betray, forsake..ect

Pretty strong connotations......

Chet Walker is a senile old fool. Players do not make championships, TEAMS do. Jerry West, Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain were 10 times better than the Three Me-Egos in Miami and they only were able to win one championship together. And Chris Bosh could not even carry their jocks!

Does this mean that LeBron and his co-conspirators can be accused of collusion?

July 12, 2010  08:22 AM ET

Basketball players aren't genuises. Norman Einstein was a genius.

July 12, 2010  08:24 AM ET

I can't believe anyone would use Lebron and Genius in the same sentence.

LMAO!!!!
I hope you intended that to be a joke.

I don't think anyone can be accused of anything...but plenty of people are pissed. Mark Cuban had to pay that fine just for saying he'd be interested in Lebron, meanwhile these guys are having meetings and planning together what to do.

Ain't that the truth! But then nobody ever said Sports writers were very bright either.

"James is a genius for what he engineered with Wade and Bosh"... nah... what them three cats did is cowardice as they conceded they can't do it by themselves or with help like Kobe and Jordan did.

Stern also needs to take some blame for this as such moves takes away the competition factor a league needs to maintain integrity and high interest. Lebron insulted the whole state of Cleveland by the way he went about leaving and I bet there will be repercussions for that.

The Three Me-Egos LOVE IT!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!
**** these guys, and I have no clue who this Chet Walker guy is, for all I know he could be the guy who lives on the second floor in my building, and after hearing LeBron talk in that hour "Decision" he sounds like anything BUT a genius,

would you be upset if bron, wade and bosh were in NY?

by the way Russell has 11 rings do you think he was the best player during all 11 years?

if your answer to these questions is yes ...may i propose some bull to go with your next meal

July 12, 2010  08:40 AM ET

My only concern is that if one of them get hurt like say Dwade then 2 of them isn't going to be enough since the rest are not going to be good players.. Mike Miller is a decent shooting guard not a big threat, its def a risky move.

Although I agree with the point you're making, Baylor never won a ring. As for the article, what is so "genius" about transforming yourself from one of the most beloved players in the league to one of the most hated? That doesn't strike me as brilliant. Oh, I forgot. He's getting a bad public reaction because of slavery, not because he acted like a total tool. Right, Jesse?
