Didn't Tony Allen already win a ring? He doesn't need to go running to Miami to try and chase one. Honesty, if you're a role player, why go to Miami? If they lose, THEY won't get blamed. It'll be the "scrubs" around them that take the heat (no pun intended).

I think Celts did the right thing to let him go. Even though he's athletic and a very good defender he still doesn't have a shot and I think the compelling reason that Celts let him go is the fact that he's one of those players that looses focus and makes silly mistakes when you least expect.

He's still very good for a bench player but not reliable so if the Celts are able to replace him with a more stable reliable veteran then you can see the sense in their judgement of the true value of Toni Allen. Also given the salary cap situation with most teams there will be lots of willing and able veterans they will be more than happy to take the minimum salary to stay in the league while playing for a championship. Add the fact that the Celts window of opportunity is just this one season coming up so there's no need to strangle the salary cap with Toni Allen's contract...

I'm sorry momma. We know your son loves and will miss Boston but he has himself to blame for not developing a reliable shot all these years be's been in the league.
