07:30 AM ET 07.12 | If preseason snaps were any indication, the job of lining up next to Ray Lewis might already be set, but Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh isn't willing to give away anything. Dannell Ellerbe and Tavares Gooden, two linebackers with differing strengths and bodies, can agree on one thing: no one has a lock on the job. ... Ellerbe has continued to work with the first defense through the Ravens' series of minicamps this spring, but coach John Harbaugh cautioned against reading too much into that. "I wouldn't characterize any of those young guys as starters yet," Harbaugh said in late May.

Ray remains the main guy. Whoever they go with at the other ILB spot has to know he'll play second fiddle to Lewis.

You're right Stranger. Whichever one lines up is just going to known as the other guy anyway.

"lining up next to Ray Lewis "....My bad, at first I thought it had something to do with the Police. Silly me.

I played High School with Ellerbe. He is a smart kid, who can hold his own.

Ellerbe could lead the league in tackles and INTs for a LB, at the end of every Ravens game, the media wh*res will all run to Lewis to see what he has to say. I wish the kid well. I just think we won't hear from him all that often.

We are talking about defense here. It is not like the guy is going to stop before he tackles the RB and ask Ray if he would like to tackle him instead. I get the point that the media will still flock to #52 even if the guy has a breakout season, but on the field it really doesn't matter at all. They will both get a chance to do what all linebackers do, it will not be like RBs splitting ball carries.
