Is Richt under more fire since June 30?

10:00 AM ET 07.12 | With Damon Evans' resignation, the relative heat on Mark Richt's seat becomes a little unclear. Just last month at the SEC business meetings in Destin, Evans was cornered by writers and asked if Richt, 90-27 after nine seasons, was on the hot seat this season. "There's no need for that because he's not on a hot seat," Evans said then. "Mark is in a good place with us, and I'm glad he's here." But Evans is no longer in power. Does that leave Richt alone to fight his battle, since the school may take its sweet time hiring Evans' replacement? "I don't worry about those things, I really don't," Richt said. "My focus is to do my job and my focus is to be obedient to my Lord and Savior. That's kind of what I do. If that's good enough, great." Interim athletic director Frank Crumley said he would lean on school president Michael Adams and other administrators for advice in hiring and firing coaches. That's not good news for Richt.

Oh please! If anyone is in a hot-seat, it should be these stupid writers.

At least Richt seems to realize that prayer is his only chance.

"asked if Richt, 90-27 after nine seasons, was on the hot seat this season."

Just take that sentence in for a moment....

Kind of assinine!

Only reason it is not asinine is that 90-27 record has not brought him many (one?) SEC championships and a poor record against major rivals.

Which is precisely why he should stay. Forever. Please.

Perfect. You got it. If they let him go it will their loss and a lot of schools will be on the phone to him within minutes....

Just not ones that play UF.

Richt is a good Christian man, he keeps his players in line and they never get in any kind of trouble... haha

The story isn't richt, it's Adams. Adams was built in a lab from the remnants of a twisted, cowardly, wannabe bully and a mass of foreskins rejected as unsuitable by the manufacturers of Frone.

could be FSU

If they let Adams start making decisions of coach hiring-firing, UGa is in DEEP doggie doo-doo.

3 times East winner and 2 SEC Championships (2002 & 2005). Finished 2nd Nationally in 2007. But no NC's and the last 2 years have been quite disappointing. Still, the statement was asinine. What sucks for Richt (and all other SEC coaches) is he has to coach against Myer and Saban now. The bar is very high in the SEC.

You better not only exit the building, I'd say you need to exit the city, the county, and get a couple of state lines in your rear view before you slack off the gas.
