Spiller 'not going to rush' signing

06:18 AM ET 07.13 | When asked if he felt it was important that he sign before training camp, C.J. Spiller put a skip in the hearts of Bills fans. "I let my agent handle all of that. We're not going to rush. We're going to make sure we cross our T's and dot our I's, however long the process takes. I just have to be patient. I can't get antsy about the situation. I've talked to a lot of veteran guys. My teammates aren't concerned about me holding out. They know that I want to be there, but at the end of the day it's a business. You have to do what's best for your family. It was good to get that support from veteran guys already -- before negotiations have heated up."

And go where? The Bills own his right. Unless they trade him to someone else, he plays there in '10 or he doesn't play at all.

Gonna be a long season for Bills fans. And it's going to start being long with Spiller holding out.

July 13, 2010  08:05 AM ET

If you're planning to run behind that Buffalo line, you should make the Bills give you your own personal medical staff for the season.

He is a smart guy. stayed in school (because he wasn't ready yet to play in the league). He is smart to get the best contract he can and he is smart for going to the vetrans...even if they are bills to make sure they wont have issues with him. too bad he is aclemson grad...

Hilarious commentary... there are 10 comments here and I'm not sure a single one of you has ever even seen the Bills play... just because ESPN tells you that the Bills are the 2nd worst team in the league doesn't mean that you should believe them. This team will not be great, but they'll be very close to their average selves, somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 wins. Couple of bad bounces and they'll have 6 wins but a couple of good ones and they'll have 9 or more. Last year they were in almost every game until the 4th quarter, including their game with the SB Champion Saints (10-7 entering 4th), but they didn't have the depth to finish.. anyone that has played the game knows how huge a factor team depth is in the 4th

Chad Jones is very glad that he signed early. And to the Giants credit they are assuming his hospital bills. They could have cut him, saved big bucks.

Um ,I kno that guy, pop a midol and go back to sleep.

Kid showed poise in his statement, came off fairly deliberate. Getting full workouts in front of the cameras keeps pressure on the Bills to sign him. See? Works both ways. He seems to know full well he is gonna be paid for his work one way or another; now if he really is smart, he will shut up, work hard, and keep his head on learning how to read NFL. So far, he sounds like he might make a pro.

I was trying to see your view until you got to the part about with the right bounces they could win NINE or more games. That is a world record for ball bouncing....lol

The Bills have some of the best fans in the country, 10+ consecutive years of losing and the games still sell out. Buffalo is at the top of ESPN's list of best places to tailgate every year. It's too bad the team hasn't been able to reward the fans since the '90s.

"Spiller 'not going to rush' signing" and Sleeper 'not going to pick' Spiller in Fantasy draft.

They are loyal. Got to respect them. Not like Jaguar fans, they remain loyal and go to the game in a snow storm......gotta love it.

Doesn't matter how many games you win. You will still be 4th in the AFC East unless other teams take a couple of bad bounces...
