08:36 AM ET 07.13 | Mayor Chuck Reed shared his own frustrations, expressed over the weekend by A's owner Lew Wolff, over Major League Baseball's drawn-out study on moving from Oakland. "I feel like we're being jerked around, and it's time to make a decision," Reed said Monday. ... It's been 16 months since [Bud] Selig appointed a special committee to study the A's options, and neither Wolff nor San Jose leaders can fathom what's taking so long. Timing becomes critical because the City Council must decide by Aug. 3 whether to place a measure on the November ballot asking voters to support a ballpark measure.

I yearn for the days of the early 70's when there were 24 teams, a perfect schedule and both leagues played real baseball.

Move them to Seattle, and have them play basketball.

Move them back to Philadelphia, there's still some old geezers who think they can go to Shibe park and watch them there.

It's taking a long time because Selig didn't like the results of the study which did not support a move from Oakland. So he has people working on how to fudge numbers and alter the english in the report so that moving his frat buddy's (Lew Wolfe) team to San Jose will happen. These two sumbags care nothing at all about the Oakland fans. Lew Wolfe will be seen as an Art Modell type of owner. I hope he and Selig end up in a scandal involving nude photos of themeselves with each other.

Yeah, they played good baseball, but they wore pajamas, and I don't think I could handle seeing the 70's San Diego Padres', Chicago White Sox' or Houston Astros' uniforms on a regular basis.

Joe Morgan and his group wanted to buy the A's and keep them in Oakland. They wanted to make improvements and keep the A's at home. This sale was quickly shot down by Selig and a sale was approved to his Fraternity Brother Wolfe. Screw Selig and Wolfe.

The only reason this is taking so long is because MLB is still trying to figure out the best way to milk the cities involved for cash. Obviously Oakland has already said that they can't and won't pay for a new stadium. On the other hand San Jos?? is probably one of the few cities left in California that still might get their hands on enough money to fund a stadium giving it a pretty good advantage in the eyes of Selig and his cronies. Of course now they have to find out which way they can get the most from the public coffers.

the a's can play, but maybe they only need a better coach staff, and some entertainment like a rattle sneake or a killer whale!!

The A's will eventually move, so will the Raidas and the Golden State Warriors. Why? Although they have a descent fan base, their boxes are half empty. Who wants to buy those boxes for inferior products?

And since I am in the mood for asking questions, who the hell came up with the city name, Golden State? Idiot politician.

I suspect you are on target. Throw in that the Giants have to get something out of this deal.
The big lie though is this from Wolff.."..every opportunity we can find in Oakland and Fremont, and only then did we focus on San Jose."
The plan has been in place since 2005.

Not many A's fans left. The team is pretty much competitive every year. Just like the South Side of Chicago, if they were able to but in a night life around the stadium problem would be solved. I don't want to have to choose what to do if a favorite team moves cities. I'm thinking I trade my scripted A for the old English D. Don't want to though.

The Oakland Athletics are one of the few reasons to root for modern baseball. Considering they were one jeremy giambi slide away from beating the yankees backed by a starting rotation to rival the Atlanta Braves of the 1990's makes me appreciate what this team does. As a Giants fan it's tough to root for them but they play good ball. Anyone who respects the game of baseball appreciates what the Oakland Athletics do.
