12:12 PM ET 07.13 | NASCAR has a new feud to contend with. After making contact during the final lap of last weekend's race at Chicagoland, Juan Pablo Montoya and Mark Martin had a tension-filled exchange in the garage. "He didn't like the way I passed him there on the last lap, (called it) borderline stupid driving and suggested I take some smart driving lessons from him," Martin said. The two will have a break from each other this week as the series takes some time off before heading to Indianapolis.

Young whippersnappers don't give the old folks any respect. LOL Truth be told, Martin was going slow in the fast lane and his blinker was on for the last 40 laps. That's not all, he had his foot on the brake all the time.

If Mark had done what Juan does , Juan would have been in the wall rather than just passed

My Buick has one of those things that chime if you leave your blinker on too long.
First time I heard I did not know what the sound was and was all in a panic because I just got off the highway and had been doing a good clip. Thought I done something to the car driving it too hard.
Found out I was just getting old and had left the turn signal on.
Forgot you do not like GM there JK so you would not have one of those gizmo's on your car.

JPM needs to shut his trap

July 13, 2010  12:36 PM ET

Mark Martin, the Charlie Brown of nascar...you wont find a bigger Martin fan than me, but he needs to retire...hes chasing the title he will never get..from the looks of things this year, there must be some sort of rule in nascar which requires Martin to finish each race anywhere from 15th to 20th...
plus JPM is an idiot.

July 13, 2010  12:45 PM ET

This is an example of why I don't lke JPM. Send him back to open wheel.

kodiak; here's a list of cars I owned and it will show that I really have nothing against G.M.
I started with a 1950 Ford, then had a 1950 Chevy, 1952 Chevy, 1953 Mercury, 1954 Chevy,1957 Chevy, 1963 Chevy, 1966 Chevy. At this point my wife went to Monte Carlos and had three in a row while I went to pick up trucks. After the Monte Carlos she had 2 Cutlass Supremes and a Chevy Lumina. I, in turn had a 74,78,80,86,and 92 Chevy pick up. In the late nineties we drifted away from G.M. and I would not hesitate to buy another one in the future.
kodiak; no problem but I felt I had to correct your thinking on my like or dislike for G.M.

lol
NP JK
You play on the Toyotas side so much on here I did not know.
Thanks for the support then.

JPM isn't good enough to carry Martin's helmet and he has the nerve to say that Martin should drive smart like him!?! First of all, I have never heard JPM being accused of driving smart. Second I'll bet that ended the argument because Martin was probably laughing too hard.

That having been said, Martin does need to retire. I hope he doesn't go out like Earnhardt did.

Probably needs to roll down the window and hold his arm out ...

Damn JK -- I would believe an apology is in order from Taz ... I would have bet a load of $$ you owned a Nipponese car of some sort ...

Agreed, and keep his fenders to himself. How many more people does he have to take out of contention before somebody feels its payback time. And after Sonoma they called Gordon the Bulldozer.!

why should he retire? didnt he win 4 or 5 races last year? the man still has it (although his team was hurt by sending too many valuable tools over to the 88 team).. if it wasnt for jimmie, mark would be a champion..

i want mark to take him out @ indy, but i really dont see that happening lol

Maybe Montoya can take a few lessons in sportsmanship, patience in driving and how to save your stuff til the end by the ol' man, Mark Martin. JPM really has no reason to complain the way Martin drives. Lots of folks have reason to complain about Montoya. And this comes from someone who enjoys watching each of them race.

July 13, 2010  05:26 PM ET

I really can???t believe all this crap I???m hearing about Montoya. You all can???t be this lock-step. How many times have we heard Martin boo-hoo???ing about stupid driving by Lagano or other drivers. Martin (and Montoya) was likely desperate on that last lap - wanted the position and made a stupid move. This miniscule incident does not make either of them incapable of driving in this sport. Martin should not retire and Montoya can say what he wants.

July 13, 2010  05:52 PM ET

Are You Kidding Me!?!? Mark Martins Career stats vs mr.brazil or whatever rock he crawled out from are ridiculous. Martin- 40wins 50poles 262 top 5's 423 top 10's .

Juan Pablo Crytoya- 1win 3 poles 16 top 5's 35 top 10's . Yea **** Mark Martin needs to take driving lessons from you. The guy wonders why the only fan is his wife.
