07:28 AM ET 07.15 | After pushing his Twitter account in an awards show acceptance speech, Chris Johnson characterized contract talks with the Titans as "at a standstill." He says he wasn't sure about reports the Titans were talking with his agent about converting incentives into a $2.5 million bonus to get him more money this year. "'m letting my agent and the team handle that." ... Johnson ran for 2,006 yards in 2009 and wants a long-term deal with at least $30 million guaranteed. But he indicated he would be happy with a short-term pay hike. Johnson says when the Titans do something, he'll be in camp with his teammates.

Yea, its ridiculous to expect a guy who signs a 5 year contract to not want to renegotiate it after 2 years.

They have no problem releasing them 2 years into a 5 year contract

Yea but if the guys is worth a dam, hes gonna get picked up by someone else. Most of these teams always keep the guys they draft until the contracts up even if they overpaid the hell out of them for the 5 or 6 years of their initial contract because they dont want to admit they made a bad pick.

Maybe the five year 58 million dollar contract Vince Young is finishing up this year sticks in his head. It should stick in Bud Adams head a little too.
