10:29 AM ET 07.16 | Though the team may be actively searching for a driver for their No. 88, JR Motorsports is not planning a jump to Sprint Cup for the 2011 season. "No Cup plans," said team co-owner Kelley Earnhardt. "No Kasey Kahne. No Mark Martin. Nothing for JR Motorsports. At this point, we would need to get started on that, and it's definitely not in our future for 2011." Instead, the team is focusing on their Nationwide prospects and evaluating the potential of drivers Steve Arpin, Josh Wise and others to step up for a full ride next season.

Ready, Aim, Fire. Let the shots begin. In the Martin thread the Floater talked about a carry permit and then sent a few e-mails to T&R. Looks like it worked. LOL

Too much responsibility for Jr right now?
Or is there still some hope of Jr and Kelly getting some control of what remains of DEI?
Just waiting on Teressa to give up the reigns.

As long as Ganassi is involved, I doubt he would relinquish the Earnhardt name. That's a money maker. They have two decent drivers in McMurray and Montoya, so I think the wicked step mother will just keep counting the money.

i'd say sponsorship is probably a very big issue..

JR Motorsport is just waiting to jump to CUP....till the money tree moves up to CUP...DANICA

I have no respect for JR Motorsports after they released Kelly Bires and signed up McMurray and Sadler to drive the car.

What became of wanting to develop young drivers?

July 16, 2010  12:48 PM ET

They are smart to wait. Rushing into cup, regardless of the economy, has sunk a lot of guys. It takes a lot longer, I think, to develop a team that it does to develop a driver.

i dont see what the big deal is, even bires himself said it wasnt working (of course we dont know the full story).. in the middle of the season theres really not much else to do except put a couple of vets in there to keep the car up in the points, and find someone else for next year.. its not like mcmurray and sadler have a 2 year contract to drive it or anything

100% agree.. and i definitely wouldnt be rolling in to cup with only 1 team..

Let the truth be told. Jr and Kelley don't believe Danica is ready for the big leagues. The way I see it, they'll have to wait several seasons and frankly she may NEVER be ready.

what remains of DEI is Ganassi. All Theresa gets is a monthly check I bet.

Sponsors. They want the cameras on the car, up front or in the back with Danica. The driver development isnt want they pay for.

Thats why I think Nascar needs to step in and tell these Cup drivers if they're not going to run a full schedule in Nationwide then they can only run 5 Nationwide races for the year.. the ''up and coming'' drivers are being replaced by the veteran Cup drivers who have more seat time.. how are these young drivers going to get any seat time if nobody gives 'em any??

Kyle article is leading Jr. article in comments. Come on Jr. fans, hop to it.

Yet Kelly Bires had a MUCH better start to his career in the #88 car than Brad Keselowski did.
