I'm sure his monster contract turned them away from pursuing him.

The rumor is he met with representatives of the Seahawks for dinner. They fled in fear when Haynesworth let his appetite get out of control.

The Seahawks wanted to acquire him, but they couldn't "trim the fat" on his contract.

This whole saga is going to turn out badly for all involved, particularly Haynesworth.

They wanted to acquire them, then realized that it would be an enormous expense in addition to that fat contract. Instead of flying with the rest of the team, they would require an An-225, the largest aircraft in the world to transport him like freight.

Another classic example of a guy with a big contract who turned out to be a head case.

What a worthless article. The title says it all, HAD. End of story. Gee, here's tomorrow's big headline, "Cavs had interest in Lebron James"

The Seahawks probably 'had interest' in developing alternate uniforms that didn't look like something from a cheap scifi movie, but they didn't pull that off either.

If Washington was smart and if Seattle was stupid the "Skins would trade Haynesworth for a first round pick. Seattle will win maybe 6 games this year and that pick would be a top three pick. Getting rid of a cancer and acquiring a top three pick would be golden for Washington.
I have yet to understand why Haynesworth hates the 3-4. Wouldn't a d lineman love playing in that system?

Nose tackle is the least glamorous job in a 3-4 defense, which is where the 'Skins want Haynesworth to play. His stats would go way down because instead of breaking into the backfield and getting to the QB or RB, his job would be to tie up two offensive linemen. Just as important, but Big Al (the other one) doesn't get to do a sack dance nearly as much.

If you're a selfish player you won't like it. I have never heard Casy Hampton complaining about playing in the 3-4. The nose tackle is the most important player in the 3-4. If he gets a double team that frees up a player to blitz or hit a running back at the line on a run play. It's true you won't get the stats if you're a nose tackle in the 3-4, but you could play a huge roll in a potentially great defense.

It seems a little like that. I get it, you look for people you know, but he needs to move on.

It was more a crack at the lack of discipline in Petey's locker room than a migration of Trojans to the Northwest

Turns out the Seahawks were actively researching Haynesworth to see whether they wanted to add the lineman. But a quick consult with the US Geological Survey (USGS) took care of that.
"The USGS said that, given the fault lines running through Seattle, adding Haynesworth to the roster could ultimately spell doom for the greater Seattle area," said a Seahawks spokeman, speaking on condition of anonymity. "In fact, it might have impacted fault lines as far away as the San Andreas. Destroying the Bay Area would have made playing the 49ers and Raiders a bit easier, but we just couldn't take the chance. It's just the gravity of the situation."
The NFL Network is reporting that Haynesworth will not be allowed to play in any games held west of the Mississippi.
