10:17 AM ET 07.17 | In addition to possible changes to the Chase For The Sprint Cup format, NASCAR Chairman Brian France seems determined to change something else - the NASCAR Nationwide Series. France hinted earlier this month that changes to the Nationwide Series could keep Sprint Cup drivers from winning the series championship.

Old news, but still they need to do something to get young talented drivers up to the cup series. Why are most of the new drivers mediocre at best now? They never had that problem before.

The problem is that Nascar is between a fart and a shizzle. If they limit the exposure of Cup drivers, attendance will drop off big time. People can say they like the new talent all they want but most go to Nationwide to see the big guns. agreed, they have to do something but putting limits on how many races a guy runs isn't the answer. They had a number of ideas in the article that made sense and we can rest assured that Nascar will muck it up.

When I go to a minor league baseball game I expect to see a minor league baseball.. it should be the same way with the Nationwide series.. get the damn Cup drivers out of it and start developing the next generation of drivers

Ban the cup drivers from Nationwide and the crowd will stop expecting to see them. Attendance may drop for a while, but I'll bet it will come back up when people see these guys are racing for advancement. It's their career. I've always seen this like heavyweights boxing welterweights. The smaller guys have nothing but a punchers chance. The real question is, though, can Brian France get one right?

I would not mind seeing full time funded team, with rotating drivers, like RCR has done. lets speculate about a rule on the drivers, say, only 50% of the races per full tiem cup driver, maybe with an exemption for people like logano or keselowski, who would be permitted to run full time Nationwide only in their first two seasons of full time cup.

Should be like the other big time sports.
It is fine to go down in series but you do not get to ride in the top series till you show are good enough again.
I will give drivers like Kyle Busch props for doing all 3 but what about guys trying to get their own teams off the ground by driving themselves to get publicty for them?
Sort of walking the fence on this one?

I like pondscum's idea (#7) of only being allowed to run both for the first 2 cup years such as Loagano & Bad K.....this is a good idea on many levels....the 50% rotation also good.
Agree with Rickapolis (#6) also.
Overall, I think there needs to be some cup guys in NW,different ones each race, and only to keep the cpmpetition levels higher ....and not to take the championship away from regulars.

I think there should be a certain number of races that they are allowed to race in, if they run all 36 races in cup. But to totally ban them, is not smart. This way you get both. You get to see young drivers develop and follow them. Then some of the cup drivers come in and you get to see how they stand against them. Kind of how it used to be. Then the equation is real simple, dont cry about it, just beat them when they come down to your series.

Keselowski messed with the bull and he got gored again. Edwards all but said he dumped him on purpose. he got tapped by kes and he tapped back. I hope Nascar looks at this as "have at it boys"

That was a tough couple hits Brad took. His daddy looked about to cry. Carl just gave him back what was done to him. Shades of Dale Sr. I just wanted to touch him a little Dale said once.

I tend to agree with ya JK, in theory. But the problem is the Cup Drivers are using this series for practice at tracks and frankly the drivers of the future are getting the drive-shaft! And it is quite boring to see a Cup driver win the Nationwide Championship when the majority of competition on the track are not good enough to be in the Cup series. Attendance isn't all that great in the Nationwide Series anyway so I kinda say anybody who is regular in the Cup Series cannot compete for points in the Nationwide Series. But you are right about Nascar screwing it up. Brian France is a natural at that.

Minor league ball players dont need a sponsor support of many many millions a year (season). If we can figure out the funding issue, the lower levels of racing would be open to nearly all and we would really see pure "driver development" programs.

how about josh wise finishing 8th in the number 7 car? Where is the media? They acted like it was the greatest thing ever that danica brought the car home in one piece a couple of laps down in 24th or whatever it was. All this does is show once again how overated DP really is. Good job wise.

I agree, you're right on the mark with this. It shows what marketing and P.R. can do. Who would sell the most tee-shirts at the track? Follow the money. I am not a Jr. fan nor a Danica fan but Jr. and Co. are in business.
