08:19 AM ET 07.18 | A.J. Burnett slapped a double door in the Yankees clubhouse in frustration after allowing three runs to the Rays in the first two innings and cut both of his hands on hard plastic lineup-card holders. Burnett initially lied to the trainers about how his injuries occurred, and pitched to two batters in the third before being removed in the 10-5 loss to the Rays.

I'm sure the Yanks and Sox would like to re-do the Burnett/Lackey trades (although Burnett pitched well last postseason)

First the guy gets on the DL for holding back a sneeze. Now a guy gets hurt throwing a hissy.
I'd bet my 80 year old mother could beat up any six baseball players without stepping aside from her walker. Baseball players are such a bunch of wimpy putzes.

In the recent bonanza of big free agent signings (Texiera, Sabbathia, Burnett) the signing of Burnett was a mistake by the Yankees. He does not have the psychological make-up to pitch big games and never has.

Ah, how quickly they forget. Burnett acquitted himself well in October and the World Series last year. Well enough that the Yankees didn't lose any of his starts. He also *gasp* pitched on short rest when they needed him to!! Whatever's bugging AJ will be temporary. At least the guy isn't spending his entire contract on the DL or in the Minor Leagues like a certain guy I won't name (Carl Pavano).

burnett not my favorite either, but this is a bit harsh. he pitched awfully well in game 2 of the WS last year. not well in game 5, but that could be as much about phils having backs to wall as it was about burnett.
Hotpants…
