10:02 AM ET 07.18 | The University of Georgia released cell-phone records Friday that show about 250 text messages exchanged, over a period of a few weeks, between former athletics director Damon Evans and the woman who was in the car with him when he was arrested.

Long as he is released, it don't matter.

Wow! They really decided to throw Evans under the bus, big time.I wonder if his shoes have any yellow stains left by Uga?

Does seem a like a classless act to make it personal and gritty to the public.
No need to go that route and not very good history for hiring in the future. I suspect there are a number of in house memos that he could tell about too that are not very flattering to UGA.

True but i don't think he would do that because Georgia is still paying him his salary for 3 months and the $100,000 for his time at UGA

They're public records. He was an employee at a pubic, tax-payer funded university. Once petitioned by the AJC, the university had to release the messages.

Boy, the AJC sure does love stuff like this, don't they.

You beat me to it. My guess is someone filed a FOIA on this. Similar to what a Hog fan did to Houston Nutt's university issued cell phone.

I wish the AJC would just move on - we all have.

Got it. Thanks.

What a waste , all that education spent on the cranium and the little head gets to make all the decisions.

That's now 'a-pubic-hairydawg'..

Nothing like a little Alice Cooper to spice up a thread. Gnarly that people are so stupid as to use public issued cell phones to do dirty biz with. So so so dumb.

My final offer is this: nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you put up personally...

Just like Mike Leach from Texas Tech got fired just before his big bonus was going to kick in, I think the same thing happened to Damon Evans. I think someone in the know knew he was drinking and driving and informed a cop to look out for his car. I don't think that was the 1st time the guy was drinking and driving. It's just strange that he got fired a DAY before he was about to get a huge salary increase. He did it to himself, but the timing seems too perfect to just be a coincidence.

While I am never one to shy away from a conspiracy theory I think you might be reaching a little. A salary increase is very different from a large one time lump sum payment. Was anyone at UGA about to write him a big bonus check? I am asking and not trying to be a smart a&&.

nice conspiracy theory but oh so wrong...it cost uga much more to fire this guy and hire a new AD and pay all legal fees rather than just give Romeo his bonus...

Hah hah, so true. My guess is 90% of all males are led by the little head.

Actually, I think this qualifies as "here's why we fired his ****. Not because he made a mistake, but because he lied about it and tried to cover it up."

And it makes total sense to me: I said when the arrest was first reported "Hey, we all screw up, so if it's just the DUI, that's one thing. If he's lying about the girl in the car... well, that's something you can't make amends for."
