Kaberle now in play for LA?

08:08 AM ET 07.20 | Los Angeles took its best shot, reportedly $80 million, and lost Ilya Kovalchuk -- while possibly winning. [The Kings] were smart not to go any further. As for what's next? There's no rush to Plan B. Los Angeles has inquired about Tomas Kaberle, but Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke wants an established forward in return. As the Team USA Olympic GM, it wouldn't be surprising if Burke asked for Dustin Brown in a package. That's not happening. Maybe, they'll call Chicago about Patrick Sharp or Boston about Marc Savard. ... But if we've learned nothing else during the Kovalchuk saga, it's that the Kings won't rush.

Why is everybody so determined to trade someone or something to the L.A. Kings? Do the Kings have a sign at the main entrance to Staples Center saying, "We want your leftovers?" Just wondering, is all.

Somebody needs to rush Lou Lamoriello the hospital for a CAT scan. Something deffinetely wrong with the old goat's brain! I mean, this guy who's been roothless with players who wanted a fair contract. He even sent Bill Guerin packing to the Oilers for a couple of rolls of toilet paper because Billy wanted a little more money. What's wrong with him? Makes me sick!

Trading Dustin Brown would be a dumb move especially when your getting Kaberle. Brown is a very good player who has scored 30 goals, he has been in the olympics before, he is the captain of a good young hockey team that is competing really well. This move makes no sense to me. The Kings already have an offensive d-man, Drew Doughty and even Jack Johnson.

Kings need to sign a free agent NOT trade away talent. Especially young and relatively cheap talent.
They're young enough to improve individually and therefore as a team. So they should, as they are now, make it back to the playoffs, and hopefully the 2nd round next year.
If it's trade or wait until next year... WAIT. Unless 1 of the goalies goes on the block, which will happen in mid-season anyway.
In the mean time, give Frolov a 1 yr deal and call it a day.

I agree, plus Thomas Hickey and Colton Tuebert. two first round draft picks that are both d men and both hungry to crack the lineup

Why would Burke even ask for Dustin Brown? No way does LA trade him for Kaberle...

If the Leafs don't deal him, they will try to resign him.

Burke knows that he isn't going to get value for Kaberle, One year left on a reasonable contract will turn not net a top 6 forward unless Burke takes money back big time. The only problem is Burke has spent most of his cash. Other teams have been making what Burke calls joke offers. He may have to be the punchline by the 15th of August if he truly wants something in return. Only Trouble? Most GM's are on their summer holidays for the next few weeks

DCruiser: Your Comment: I mean, this guy who's been roothless with players who wanted a fair contract. Devils got back Arnott, I guess Lou enjoyed his TP when they won the Cup in 2000. Here's to TP!
