09:33 AM ET 07.20 | The tallest player in the NBA may be leaving a void for a while longer. Houston Rockets center Yao Ming missed all of last season due to an injured left foot and, if the Racine Journal-Times is to be believed, he could miss the first two months of the coming season. "Houston officials are hopeful All-Star center Yao Ming will be physically sound for the regular-season opener," the Journal-Times reports. But it isn't looking good for that to happen, the paper notes.

Why is Yao so opposed to taking Chinese medicine? His foot would have been "cured" by now.

I've said from day 1 of the mystery foot issue with him that something else was going on- I've never heard in thehistory of sports that a bone problem- that HAD surgery in the foot could take a year and a half to get better......

Initial prognosis was a career ending injury... when did that change?

I think Yao is done, he can't stay on the floor for half a season.. maybe he should actually take the off season to rest instead of playing for his country every summer.. Too much basketball can wear and tear the body down.

And what about Grant Hill? Ever heard of him?

This makes Al Jefferson an automatic all star granted he'll be playing on a good Utah team with Amare out east.

Houston will be lucky if he plays ever again. This is what happens when you don't allow your body to rest. Yao plays too much basketball, the Chinese community should be ashame for destroying this players future by forcing him to play for their national team every season immediately after playing a 82 game schedule in the United States.

... I believe Yao is done... He will no longer be the dominat force he used to be... I will hope he come back strong but whne you are that big the world around you is not made to confort you... It will be great to see a goo strong Houston team give some challenge in the West...If all team are healthy is going to be very hard for the Lakers to reach the finals...
