07:30 AM ET 07.21 | A LaMarr Woodley contract may be the next casualty of the 30 percent rule. [On Monday], in his first interview since being told by the Steelers that the team has no intention of negotiating an extension before the final season of his rookie contract, Woodley elaborated upon his frustration. The fourth-year standout, who has 29 sacks despite just 31 career regular-season starts, will make $550,000 in 2010, a figure that is much less than market value. "It's kind of jacked up," Woodley said. ... "You look around the league and you see different teams getting stuff done with their players in similar situations, and you think, What, the Steelers don't care about me? Stuff like that goes through your mind."

Kind of makes you want to reach out and take someone's hand, doesn't it?

As this story keeps getting repeated for multiple players across the NFL, you're going to see the players having less and less interest in fighting the owners over the new CBA. They have to make their money now and can't afford a lockout.

At least the story is about a player who wants to redo his contract. We're not too far out into unknown territory. "Here there be dragons" and all that good stuff.

Maybe the Steelers would care more about Woodley if he would learn English. What the hell does "it's kind of jacked up" mean if you're not referring to a car???!!!

For some reason that statement reminded me of Lee Arney's Geico commercial.

Didn't the Titans just renegotiate with Chris Johnson who had the same situation as Woodley, out performing his rookie contract. I think he'll make $2.5 million this season instead of less than the million he was set to be paid. Steelers won't do this, but it has little to do with the CBA in this case, more so the Steelers organization rarely renegotiate deals and are very quick to let guys walk when they start to chirp about getting paid fairly.... see Alan Faneaca as a recent example.

Wasn't on my mind ORF but I can clearly see the rationale.

It's obvious, I'm biased here, but I appreciate that other fans (dallas fans?) want our players, it's always been like that. We just can't resign them all to big deals. Our system helps a lot of these guys and I think that to some degree we can plug a lot of guys into our D and make it work, but he is one that I would really like to see us keep if we can.

What was his total contract for his four years. You have to factor in the signing bonus as well. Everyone kept saying Chris Johnson was making league minimum, which wasn't true. He was making 2.4 million a year. The signing bonus has to be factored in all the years.
