07:13 AM ET 07.22 | Prince Fielder wasn't, then he was in the White Sox sights. Is the market really that volatile, that it can flip 180 degrees in one day? ... [It will be] up to Chicago GM Kenny Williams, an aggressive wheeler and dealer, to put together a package that would make the Brewers' Doug Melvin pull the trigger before the July 31 deadline. Otherwise, Melvin is inclined to wait for the off-season to move Fielder.

It's not the market thats so volatile, it's the media and their guessing games. Probably 90% of what is printed has no basis in fact but it makes a good story.

I don't see a lot teams looking to go after a player who's way out of shape, already turned down 100 million and has Scott Boras for a agent.............

Amen to that brother. These reporters are under so much pressure to print 300 words a day they need to come up with dirt.

Nobody wants this blob. He is fat about out of shape. Also hitting that age where stats drop off. Need a good example of a guy like this going south fast? How about his dad? 50 homers to a waste of roster space in 4 short years....

July 22, 2010  11:04 AM ET

Ironic. Fielder is to fat to field much....

That pic has either been "touched up" or is at least 2 years old. Prince is WAAAAAAY fatter!

July 22, 2010  11:41 AM ET

when a team can't afford to sign good, productive, contact hitter, then they have to let him go, unless they are 100% sure that this franchise its willing to build the team around fielder if not then there shouldn't be any problem to trade him!

July 22, 2010  11:44 AM ET

the white sox aren't resignning their first baseman paul k, perhaps the brewers could sign him for one year deal,

He kicks ass and is a pretty damn good ballplayer, and just because everyone is jealous of his playing ability, they find it the need to make fun of his weight.
