Rose on Chicago: 'Never' leaving

07:18 AM ET 07.22 | Never, as Prince says, is a mighty long time. [Derrick] Rose said "never." As in he is never leaving Chicago. ... "I'm never [leaving]," he said, before punctuating that statement a few seconds later. "Never." Rose is a hometown Chicago boy, who left for a year to go to college in Memphis and is back home. He doesn't want to leave. But in this era of free agency, never can be a very long time. Still, Chicago fans, you have to be happy with where his heart is.

I dunno man - words are easy to spit. How many times did Lebron proclaim he's on a mission to bring a title to Cleveland only to turn his back on Ohioans cold turkey style. Plus Rose is pretty young. The losing is yet to take a toll on him. I look at Bron, Wade, Bosh, Dirk, Pierce... they all gave up money for a chance to compete at the highest level. I have a feeling Melo is on that path as well and there's rumors CP3 wants out as well. So the question for Rose is as they years go by and the losing records pile up would you be there?

I'm impressed by his comments and loyalty to the Bulls. I hope that he isn't made to eat his words if he ever falls out of favor with the team management since it may not be his choice to leave. I'm not quite sure if I like the whole thing that happened with coach Cal and Memphis, but he seems to be driven and has a load of talent. With that, I hope he is able to have a good career in the Chi, all the fans seem to like him and they can build around him. I'm fairly interested in seeing what he can do this year.

Good for you Rose but in this day and age an owner should never trust the words of their players.

I see your point. This guy somehow seems to be immune to the concept of that and is satisfied with the best effort of the team. I think that as long as they ball when they are out there he would 'ride or die' with his teammates and maintain that loyalty to the Bulls. I could be wrong, but if they want to keep this guy, they just have to make sure they get rid of the loafers and make sure that they monitor his relationship with the guys so that any oddballs are quickly dumped.

I just go back to the way he responds when they don't reach that ultimate goal and it has been consistent all the way back to his days in Memphis.

4real, but I think Rose will stay majority of his career with the Bulls, he may later past his prime play for another team.. its very rare you see players of this age just stay with 1 team their whole career.

Chicago's ownership is not the best but they are good with setting expectations and keeping the team competitive. That's enough to keep the pressure off their stars so I can see why Rose is in a comfort zone... but on second thought I think he meant to say you can take him out of Chicago but you can't take Chicago out of him which leaves the door open for an exodus in case he catches Lebronities also known as Quitness or if Delonte West gets traded to the Bulls which will be bad news for his mother.

Rose knows he is in the perfect situation. He is going to become a max player when he is eligible. Why not make management happy and the fans happy with this statement.

I am confused with your comments, you say Chicago's ownership is not the best but yet are good with setting expectation and keeping the team competitive, please explain that part.. to me that sounds like great ownership.. how many owners can keep their franchise competitive through out the years, even after the 6 championship they still manage to make the playoffs.

This is the same management that didn't show up at MJ's hall of fame indoctrination and had a messy break up with their last coach... you can't give them an A+ for that.

oh so thats bad ownership.. so I guess all the good works they have done in the past doesn't count like give their ex players jobs within the organization and making sure Jay Will had medical coverage from his accident instead of cutting him off and making it his responsibilty.
Jordan is a grown man and talked to Jerry Reinsdorf before he was going into the hall of fame. I am sure he had a very valid reason for not making it. With the coach break up that had nothing to do with how they treat their players and build a team, its not like Paxson/Vinny destroyed the team with trading players for bad contracts and get giving away first round draft picks. I say the Bulls owernership has to be one of the best in the league.

Chicago isn't Cleveland and Rose isn't LeBron. Rose is way to competive to ride another mans coat tails. Just like Wade, Rose will bring players to Chicago. Not the other way around.
