Swinney has magic touch ... again

08:02 AM ET 07.22 | Rejoice, Clemson -- Kyle Parker is coming back. Without Parker, [Dabo] Swinney would've picked between two untested quarterback commodities in freshman Tajh Boyd and senior Michael Wade, neither of whom have completed a college pass. It's an issue the Tigers no longer have to deal with. It's the second straight year Swinney's held onto a coveted pro prospect. In January 2009, Spiller turned down a likely first-round NFL draft spot to play his senior season. Spiller was picked No. 9 by Buffalo last April.

I guess all those agents don't make it to Clemson.

I'm really beginning to wonder if Swinney does have the magic touch. A lot of momentum being build in Death Valley (east)

In the immortal words of Flavor Flav, "Don't believe the hype."

So is this actually "news"?
If Parker wanted to go to the NFL, he would have submitted the papers to enter the draft back in February, wouldn't he?

he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the first round of the MLB draft. I think I read the deal was worth $2 million.

He wanted another calendar year jumping with the Flying Tigers skydive club.

Sorry, but getting Parker back this year is NOTHING compared to Spiller returning for his senior year last year. Not even close. And it won't change the fact that Georgia Tech is ClemPson's daddy.

Spiller (don't know his first name FJJ) came back for his senior year even though he would have been a first round pick to get drafted by Buffalo. That's just not right.

If our defense improves at all, I think we'll win the ACC outright.

yeah this year seems like the last couple for the ACC. Lots of teams in the hunt. should be interesting.

Kinda surprised by this. It's easy to say, "I would sign for nearly $2 million." Last year's Rockie first rounder was offered nearly twice that. Possibly Parker feels some loyalty to Clemson and Swinney. That's something you don't hear enough of these days. Perhaps Parker is looking at playing football in the fall then reporting to spring training for the Rockies in February.

I think FSU will go 6-2 in conference, so we'll either be 9-3 or 8-4. I just don't see our defense doing much more than that this year. But like the last few years - 4-4 is just as likely as 6-2 and 8-0 doesn't seem possible by anyone.

Agents aren't the only ones capable of extending illegal benefits.

Clemson has managed to have 9 of 9 potential first round picks return for their senior season over the last 7 years.

Over that same time the Tigers were trying to desperately win their first ACC Football Championship in twenty years while two seperate coaches, Tommy Bowden and Dabo Swinney, have been under tremendous pressure to win or be fired.

Make of it what you will.

Fixed it!

KP will make a huge difference this year for Clemson. He told the Rockies his price and they didn't match it, simple as that. Clemson is a very special place and those outside of it won't understand why he didn't leave this year. Those of you who don't follow the program closely should know that the Tiegrs WILL be the division champs this year, and will be a dominant force in the ACC very soon. This staff is recruiting very well and is better at evaluating talent than the previous staff. We own FSU and a whooping is due for GT!

Go Tiegrs!

Swinney's cool. Good for Clemson. Now, any news on Todd?
