07:24 AM ET 07.23 | In good spirits, Josh Smith addressed the thought of playing with Shaq. "If he comes to the team, that'll be real big for us, that'll be real big for our team. I think we're missing a guy down there that's gonna hold up Dwight a little bit. You know, give him a little physicality a little bit. I think having him on the team would be big. Just having him for his leadership and all the different accolades he's done throughout his whole career. He definitely can teach us a little thing or two about success in the League."

This play has been called before. Shaq was brought in to help Phoenix neutralize Tim Duncan, that didn't work, then he was sent to Cleveland to neutralize Dwight Howard... he didn't even qualify to play in that match up. Now Josh wants the same guy on his team to neutralize Howard??? I don't get it... help me out here ATL and while y're at it explain why you gave JJ such a huge contract...

if you're Atlanta what would it hurt? they got railed by Orlando last year and can't seem to get fan interest even with a top 4 east team...Shaq can match up against Howard as well as nearly anyone in the league still and he's always been able to perk fan interest so i'd say it'd be a move with little negatives

Shaq would be good for a young team that needs experience at C. Hawks & Bulls would work. It worked when he went to a young Miami team...

The Bulls got the very VETERAN Kurt Thomas.....

Did I miss when Shaq transformed into this MJ like leader that Josh seems to think he's going to be? Josh...just don't share any ideas for TV shows, not throw him the ball or expect him to be in shape and care and you're all set!

I'm not sure Shaq wants to go to Atlanta. A better destination would be the Spurs. Duncan and Shaq together would give the Laker Bigs a fit.

When did that happen?

(forgive me LA)

Love your all around game but its time to get a blasted jumper.....bro

If Shaq isn't motivated, Shaq doesn't make a difference on any team especially ATL. What ATL needs is a new offense that doesn't primarily flow thru Joe Johnson all day every day...

Lmao, oh wow

Did Atlanta not observe how Shaq did with Cleveland last year? He has become nothing more than a situational player, limited to 10 -15 minutes a game. Atlanta runs quite a bit so I don;t see how he fits.

We love you Shaq but it's time to call it a career.

Adding Shaq would not really help ATL. the East just became competitive. i would say they will not even be at the top 4 next season.
