08:54 AM ET 07.24 | Shaquille O'Neal's limbo is largely self-created. O'Neal, according to team executives, is seeking an $8 million salary. He wants a two-year deal. The Dallas Mavericks had interest, but balked at O'Neal's salary demands. The Atlanta Hawks were similarly intrigued, and similarly spooked by O'Neal's price tag.

And it showed in the playoffs. He's just not the difference maker he used to be. I think he would make a better police officer than NBA center.

When Josh Powell is preferred over Shaq, the writing is on the wall. Even the police dept is not hiring in Atlanta!!!

QUOTE(#5):

And he could not even last as a police officer. After the freestyle "Kobe couldn't do without me" in which he made some racial slurs he was relieved of duty. And he was a part time robocop lol

I didn't know he was relieved of duty. I did know of the unpleasant nature between him and Kobe but maybe he should also be relieved of his NBA duty. But I don't blame the big guy for wanting to keep getting an NBA pay check.

For a couple million Shaq would probably be worth it.
Short spurts of above average offense.
And average defense...he'll still immovable .
A mild D12 deterrent...

If he's going to get signed before the start of the season it is going to be for the veteran minimum and probably with a contender. I'd love to see him return to LAL. Both he and Kobe would benefit from a reunion. If Shaq will come off the bench he could end up with a couple more rings and his jersey in the Staples rafters.

Time has now caught up with the Shaq he is no where near as the player that he used to be. teams know that. If you want to play Shaq then get the minimum other why retire and go to broadcasting like you planned.

He's worth more than the minimum for sure....but 2 yr $16 million is just ridiculous. I would go 1 yr $5 million max with him....and that's overpaying him, but he probably won't play for less. Guys his size and with his experience don't come around every day

He could go to Europe and be a side show attraction in the European league, sell a boatload of tickets and likely make $15 million per year.

Mid level exception is all he will get in the NBA and a contender would only pay veteran's minimum.
