Isiah's sex harassment trial begins

The potentially incendiary sexual harassment trial of Isiah Thomas, the Knicks' coach and president for basketball operations, begins today in Manhattan federal court, three weeks before the team opens training camp. The allegations against Thomas made by Anucha Browne Sanders, a former senior vice president for the team, are salacious and likely to preoccupy the news media because of his celebrity and his mixed record running the Knicks.

Unless he was taking or distributing HGH, or some other illegal, body enhancing agent, I have a hard time that the media will be too preocupied with this story. I am sure it will get it's time in the spotlight, but what better time to get caught trying to diddle your senior VP than in the midst of so many other major sports scandals???

Here's hoping this slimey sumbitch gets whats comin' to him.....

This

This story will get serious media attention because for whatever reason, the NY media loves to hate Isiah. We should note that this is a woman hired by Layden, and had a lot of power during the Layden years. This is a woman that lost power under Isiah, and got fired. By definition, this ???could??? be a woman with an ax to grind.

I believe Isiah is a man with several options when it comes to woman, and I have seen ms Sanders. Unlike most of the people who write here and the media, I will wait to here to evidence.

I would like to think the case is not resting on Isiah telling a city dancer to be nice to a referee!!!!!!!!!

I do not know if he is guilty, but I will wait to here the evidence.

I'll wait to pass judgement until I hear the facts. Oh, and a picture of Ms Sanders. ;)

he and Harold Reynolds need to share notes.

Media attention???? For Isaiah Thomas...are you kidding me?

September 10, 2007  02:18 PM ET

This can't be true, isn't he a homosexual (see his numerous embraces with "Magic" Johnson and you'll know what I mean...

September 10, 2007  02:56 PM ET

I doubt Isiah is guilty of this. When I first heard this story I thought that Browne-Sanders was lying, and I still think that way.

Isiah the player was in my mind one of the bests ever. I still got a poster of the Bad Boys on my bedroom wall, and although they beat my Lakers in 1988 I was happy for Isiah and company.

As a G.M. and Coach however he sucks. His term with the Knicks has been disasterous. They will be forever paying the luxury tax, and if they make the playoffs they will only be at best a 6 seed. Boston, and New Jersey are still better than the Knicks in the Atlantic.

September 10, 2007  03:46 PM ET

Guilty or not, and I presume not (even as a Celtics' fan) until otherwise proven, Isiah would have been well advised to settle the case out of court. Who needs this kind of thing hanging over your head this close to the season? It will only serve to distract the team. Shoulda paid her and then taken the necessary steps to protect himself from such allegations in the future.

boo

1Hawkeye1 like Liontut said, Isiah has better options. I know God don't like it when people call people ugly by Ms. Browne-Saunders is one nasty looking woman.

She ugly with a capital U.

Thanks for the support on my opinion. However, let???s talk about being a GM. I think we agree Isiah took over a mess. In basketball you win with stars and talent. There are only 2 ways to get stars, draft them or trade for them, and the Knicks had nothing to trade. Therefore, if you are a new GM with no money because the Knicks were already over the cap, no players and no draft pick the first year, you will need to gamble on deals (Q and first, Rose and a first, Malik and a first, Taylor and a first) do you see the pattern yet! Isiah was trading /moving bad players around to get other bad players and draft picks. How does the players drafted look!

For me, the jury is still out on Isiah???s coaching ability, but ask yourself this. Are the Knicks younger, more talented and is the cap less then when Isiah arrived?

Yes to all of the above!!!!!

September 10, 2007  05:48 PM ET

Listening to this story, I am asking myself: "Should I go fishing or should I go to the movies?"

Who gives a f***?

September 10, 2007  07:45 PM ET

I thought he was molesting Chris Webber.

September 10, 2007  08:25 PM ET

l don't care

September 10, 2007  08:57 PM ET

Yes, liontut I got to agree the Knicks are younger and more talented. The problem is that the pieces still do not fit. Jared Jeffries was a horrible signing. Isiah could have started David Lee at small forward. He is the same type of defensive minded prescense that Jeffries is (albeit a little slower). Jerome James was another horrible signing. Isiah basically rewarded him for having two good playoff series when he was with the Sonics. James is a waste of size and ability.

I actually liked the deal for Eddy Curry. In the long run the Knicks gave up a chance at Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah but Curry is a young guy who can score in droves. The only problem is that he doesn't play D and he is in horrible shape. I also thought the Zach Randolph deal was good. It meant giving up Channing Frye (a player I liked and if Isiah figured out how to use him would have been a good one), but Randolph will ease the low post scoring burden off of Curry. Also, as much as I trash Stephon, I always liked his game. Plus he's from Brooklyn (as am I) and I can't be mad about that.

The Knicks are getting there but I honestly believe Isiah is a trade or two away.

Still a Laker fan though, and a Knick hater but since I live here I hope the Knicks at least become good enough to watch for 82 games again.

September 11, 2007  01:31 AM ET

EJ I don't understand what Isaiah's talents as a player have to do with whether or not he's guilty of sexual harassment. And for those of you who think he can't be guilty because he has many "options for women" or because you don't consider his accuser attractive, sexual harassment isn't always about attraction. It is often about intimidation and power dynamics. I'm not trying to convict Isaiah but I'm certainly not assuming Sanders is a liar either since I don't know either one, and trying people in the media is a big mistake.

September 11, 2007  10:47 AM ET

I hope he is innocent. The comments being put out by his legal team "options for women" etc. do not inspire confidence.
Isaiah had a good off season, to me that means he did not make trade for older expensive players who will clog up the payroll ad infinitum. Let the youth play and develop. It will be at least a couple of years more, if they don't screw it up, again, before the Knicks can be actual contrenders. They are better going into this season than last, and that is a step in the right direction.

Isiah Thomas Scorecard:

Sexual Harrassment
Run Knick further into ground
Ruined an entire league (CBA)
Alientated and pissed off countless players and coaches

September 11, 2007  12:28 PM ET

Well Isiah, should this turn out bad for you and gets you fired, you can always go back to the CBA and...... oh wait....

never mind
