Kelly addresses Notre Dame arrests

Most college kids under 21 imbibe from time to time. It's just a matter of who gets caught. Take your punishment and don't do it again!

I am Hoping that we dont hear to much from the Irish this year concerning the law.....But on the other hand i would love to hear all about them winning....."Keeping my Fingers Crossed" GOO IRISH!

I wouldn't worry to much, Irish fans. They broke the law, yes, but come on. They aren't suddenly turning into Penn State overnight. Underage drinking, not rape.

Those boys should ask themselves:

This wouldn't be a big deal if it happened at any other school. However, since a very vocal contingent of Notre Dame's fans act as though the school and its players have a monopoly on integrity, this story gets legs.

Wow, yeah because underage drinking is so gnarly. Really? Underage drinking? The cops who made those arrests should be ashamed of themselves, just take the liquor and break up the party. 21 is a ridiculous age requirement. We can send MEN to war and they can chose to risk their lives if they want, but they can't drink?

Wake up socially conservative America, drinking at 18 is legal in many countries for a good reason, 18-year olds are adults. Not even a big deal, this story only has "legs" because it's a Catholic school and one of the kids has a dad named Joe.

At least they weren't caught doing the nasty. At BYU - that gets you tossed out of school!

It would be easy to believe the coach, if he didn't look so glassy-eyed when talking to you.

Big freakin deal, some domer lads decided to have some drinks. Hopefully they learned a lesson on stuff you can't do being higher profile. I am sure Coach Kelly has some extra sprints or stairs for them to do.

Non-story. Reminds of when Rhett Bomar got busted for underage drinking and he turned out...wait nevermind, bad example.

Look, here in Canada the drinking age is 19. I am not condoning underage drinking but really is this new? I teach grade 7 and 8's (12 to 14 year olds) and I'm telling you there are some pretty hair raising tales told about what happens on the weekends when mom and dad are not looking! BTW, my friends and I have suggested in the past that the main reason ND hasn't won a championship is because our players never really get into trouble with the law. Could this be a sign that brighter times are ahead?!

This could be a sign of the times too. BYU (not a fan, by far) still shows the real, moral high ground by standing up for their beliefs, in this countries every increasing acceptance of things that are wrong. While other denominational universities just talk about it. Not to mention, the many other universities that are shunning the mention of God.

Purdue managed to beat Michigan and Ohio st last season, a very rear feat indeed for the Boilermakers,
However they lost their entire secondary and had to scrape up a QB from Miami's lowest of the lows,,,, Vans early prediction--- ND-56, Purdue-14.

Underage drinking is a nonissue for me unless people aren't being responsible. When I was 20 I got arrested after blowing .02 (Equal to about a beer and a half I believe). Did I break the law? Yes I did. Was what I did terrible or dangerous? I'd contend that it wasn't. I would like to see more discretion when it comes to situations like this. Unless it was out of control or people were leaving the party anywhere close to intoxicated I wouldn't give these kids flak.
