07:24 AM ET 07.26 | Bobby Valentine, soured on the Marlins' opening, let it be known he's interested in the Chicago Cubs. "As far as the job coming open at the end of the season, anyone that considers himself a manager would think about how attractive this opportunity is, and every once in a while I consider myself a manager." Valentine recently interviewed for the Florida Marlins opening but the negotiations ended on a bad note. "If this is a major-league process, I hope I'm never in the process again," Valentine said.

You know, I've seen those t-shirts that read "Even Jesus hates the Yankees." I really don't think that's true. Take a look at the Cubs: They're so awful it's as if there was some sort of divine intervention to make them that awful!

Bobby couldn't do anything else but at least start the Cubs in the right direction. Lou's done a good job, considering the talent he's had to work with; still, a change is needed and BV seems to be the only guy out there who'd do the job.

BV would start them in the right direction. But, there are a lot of good managers out there that would make better of this situation. Ryne Sandberg has been a part of the organization from within for a long time, and I think he could come in and start winning immediately.

Marlins fans hope he does go to the Cubs, we're pretty happy with who we have now.

Last time the Mets made it to the WS Bobby V was steering the ship. Hmmm.

At least someone is interersted in the job.

Valentine either has a short memory or just doesn't get it. He alienates MLB with his comments then after he is gone for awhile he wants back in.

It should be required that every photo of Valentine is the one with him in the "disguise".

It might be worth a ticket to watch Zambrano and Bobby cause a riot in the dugout...

Please, tell me with all of your wisdom, what does your comment have to do with the subject at hand?

Or, did you just want to take the opportunity to write something?

Stick with the subject!

He was certainly interviewing for the job when he was telecasting the Cards-Cubs game! *gag*

Hey, Bobby? Could you do any more brown-nosing than you did that day?

July 27, 2010  09:33 AM ET

I really hope they hire Sandberg. He's been managing in their farm system for four years for this opportunity. If they don't hire him, he'll probably leave the organization. Isn't that what happened to Mattingly and the Yankees? Besides, they cubs are probably going to semi-rebuild next year with a lot of young players. Sandberg has been managing all those kids for four years already.

I agree with ya NCGUY
