09:13 AM ET 07.27 | The Angels can relate. Excessive celebration after a dramatic walk-off win has proven costly for the Marlins. During the elation in the aftermath of the Marlins' 5-4 win over the Braves in 11 innings Sunday afternoon at Sun Life Stadium, Chris Coghlan was injured while attempting to smash a shaving-cream pie in the face of Wes Helms, who delivered the walk-off single. After the Marlins edged the Giants, 4-3, on Monday night at AT&T Park, the club announced Coghlan was going on the disabled list with a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Between this and what happened to Morales, I really hope managers put the kabosh on this silly ****.Is there anything more ridiculous that watching grown men jumping up and down like they've won the World Series after winning a meaningless game in May?I can understand celebrating after you've clinched the division, wild card, penant and, obviously, the World Series, but an extra inning game?

Baltimore fans do this when the count goes to Ball 3.

Did I miss something? When did the Marlins get good enough to be doing Post game Pies?

The Best Celebration Injury has to go to Billy Gramatica...

If you've never seen it, YouTube it :-)

NFL and NHL Players everywhere are shaking their heads in disbelief. What style of skirt goes with that knee bandage?

July 27, 2010  12:17 PM ET

Fortunately for the Marlins, they don't celebrate very often.

It's a little funny how the term "celebration injury" has become an actual term this year.

July 27, 2010  12:45 PM ET

I feel extremely comfortable pointing and laughing at overpaid bozos who manage to injure themselves while celebrating.
I wonder if this will have any effect on reaching whatever goals he needed to meet in his contract.

Everyone has done something stupid in the past and payed the price, hopefully Cogs will heal quickly and be back soon.

And to all of you who point fingers and judge, karma is a beeotch.

July 27, 2010  01:14 PM ET

Man, that's stupid. I really don't understand celebrations in baseball for AUG / SEPT when you're in the thick of things. Last I checked, there were 162 games in a season? Maybe I'm missing something here...no wait, I'm not.

This is the exact same injury that ended Larry's career with the 3 Stooges. Have we learned NOTHING?!!!!

I thought Larry was a second slow on the hand block and took a career ending eye poke ???

July 27, 2010  01:24 PM ET

Stupid injury...but since it was celebration tied to a 4th place team, that makes it really stupid.

wise up: Tony dungy while coaching the Colts always preached to his players, and if you watch the Colts play, when you score a touch down, act like you have been their before. In the end zone, they simply hand the official the ball and go on about the game. Base ball should take heed of same practice. To be injured becauseyou want to jump on apile of teammates in celebrating is stupid. How long before someone suffers a career ending injury?

He injured his knee...trying to smash a cream pie in someone's face? How the hell...?

The Gramatica brothers would be proud.
