07:38 AM ET 07.28 | Tim Tebow and the Broncos are headed in the right direction, though perhaps not with same target date some expected. Even though the team's rookies report on Wednesday, the two sides are focusing on getting a deal done by Sunday, when the full squad begins to practice. Multiple league sources have explained that the rookie reporting deadline means nothing to anyone but head coaches, who like to use the separate reporting date to coerce the first-year players into showing up early. The front offices and the agents believe that the only date that matters is the full-squad reporting date. In Tebow's case, that's the target.

Stay focused, Tebow. Don't become a prima donna underwear model. You're Denver's last faint hope to have a real QB on their roster.

Too bad they don't play Detroit this year. He could be thrown to the ... nevermind.

Drafting Tebow leads me to believe that they've already given up on him.

What is he doing in the photo, telling the reporters what his Wonderlic score was?

I'm sure he'll get his chance. But I don't see him making all the throws he needs to make and I seriously doubt that his processor speed is fast enough. Orton almost certainly starts the season. Anyway, we'll see.

July 28, 2010  08:51 AM ET

If the team and / or Orton struggle early, they will rush Tebow into the game. He won't be ready, and he'll do badly. That will break his confidence. A few years from now, he'll be a backup somewhere. Maybe he'll get a second chance, maybe not.

They may have Quinn in there to be the guy who takes over from Orton, if necessary. That would spare Tebow the pain, and maybe give him a chance to develop before being named the starter.

I believe that's exactly the plan: Orton starting with Quinn as backup so that Tebow isn't called into service before he's ready. Quinn will get at least a token shot at the job, but I don't see him supplanting Orton and I don't think McDaniels sees it either.

Yesterday people got political in here. Today it's religion. How about sticking to sports. A lot less conflict.

Yes, that tendonitis from signing autographs can be a killer.

No, showing that he's already made $1,000,000,000 between his contract, his signing bonus, and his endorsement deals.

July 28, 2010  09:47 AM ET

Oh no, Denver's third string quarterback hasn't signed yet. Might as well give up this year. I can't believe he is getting so much attention. There have been more articles on him this year than the two or three quarterbacks drafted before him this year combined, and one is a guaranteed starter! Tebow is nothing special, so he better make sure he holds a clipboard all year and learn all he can so he might be okay when he starts. His first appearance in an NFL game will probably be just like the backup quarterback in the movie Necessary Roughness, hiding behind the referee yelling at him to blow the whistle.

How hard is it, unless he is showing his greedy side and being a class jerk.

Dez Bryant was taken 24th in the draft, he signed a five-year, $11.8 million contract that includes $8.5 million in guarantees.

Tebow was taken 25th, so. He should get a little less.

He still thinks he should have been a top 3 pick. But he wasn't, and is lucky the Broncos saw something 24 other teams did not.
