08:24 AM ET 07.28 | Did LeBron James run afoul of "old friend" Jay-Z? The Internet is popping with a report that the hip-hop magnate, who's also a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets, is upset that James kept him out of the loop on his decision to join the Miami team. The website Mediatakeout.com quotes an "EXTREMELY CREDIBLE insider" -- the capital letters are meant to underscore the source's supposed reliability -- saying "Jay-Z felt disrespected that King James did not consult with him during the free agency process." And Gatecrasher got a similar take from a source in Jay-Z's camp. "Jay never expected LeBron to sign with the Nets. He knew that no 25-year-old kid with James' profile was going to spend years in Newark," the source tells Gatecrasher. "But he's ... at least disappointed, that LeBron didn't consult with him." Still, our source says, "I don't think it's going to affect their friendship."

Go satisfy your wife, Bro.

"I don't think it's going to affect their friendship."

Well, that just negated the entire article and made it utterly useless. Thanks! :P

LeBron doesn't owe Jay-Z ANYTHING! Consult with him? He ain't his daddy! (No one knows who that is...)

Who in this world doesn't hate Lebron right now? His mum and step father maybe?. I don't think he's realized the impact of his cowardly insulting act to the people of Cleveland yet. NY and several other teams tanked seasons which affected lots of pockets in various cities just for him. As for the state of Ohio I can't even express the hatred there for him. In this age where people stand up and fight he just run to Wade for shelter... Lebron is coward.

Thats NY fault for tanking those seasons, don't pin that on Lebron you got what you worked for.

J-HOV is a part owner of a BB team that has 99 problems but Lebron ain't one.

I've never been a fan of LeBron as a player. But the man has gone under enough criticism, and endured enough hatred. Let it go, already...

I don't hate the man. He's human, humans can disappoint us at times. At the end of the day, it's just basketball, and LBJ is a very talented basketball player. Now I'd be PISSED, if he had the ability to end world hunger, and didn't do it. Get my drift?

Why does the press continue to refer to Jay-Z as a "minority owner of the Nets?" This dude owns less than 1/2 of 1%--the equivalent of the salt at the popcorn stand. He is hardly a part of the decision-making process. Why would he think LeFlake should have consulted with him about "The Decision?"

I can express the hatred. Most of his bikeathon was cancelled. The only event is the kiddie ride. I was registered for the 8 mile and also was to volunteer afterwards. I got an email yesterday stating the rides were cancelled due to lack of riders. I believe it. I got my money back a month ago. I told them if they needed volunteers maybe some local Heat fans would like to take my place.

I heard he is supposed to come back home for it. Do you think he's coming? I also heard he was already back home at St. V's?

Better T&R from Hoopsworld ;) Are The Hornets After Carmelo?

The Nuggets have a three year contract extension on the table, yet Anthony has not signed it and sources close to the situation say he will not sign it until Denver's turbulent front office situation is resolved.

Denver Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien and Vice President of Player Personnel Rex Champman have yet to reach new deals with the Nuggets and their current contracts expire on September 1st.

Nuggets head coach George Karl has one more year left on his deal and the Nuggets roster is hardly a model of youth and vibrancy.

The Nuggets entertained trade talks involving Carmelo before the draft, more as a motivator to get Melo back to the table, but since then talks have really gone nowhere as Melo's camp is in wait and see mode.

The Hornets feel like with their mix of ending contracts like Peja Stojakovic $14.2m and younger reasonably priced All-Star talent like David West and his $8.28m contract combined with huge upside players like Darren Collison, Marcus Thornton and Quincy Pondexter that the Hornets can be in the game if the Nuggets decide to move Melo.

Nuggets ownership has made it clear at all levels -- if Carmelo won't extend they have to move him. The Hornets are hoping they can get involved if and when that happens.
