08:03 AM ET 07.29 | Some in Cornhusker territory worry Zac Lee is recovering slowly after elbow surgery. But coach Bo Pelini and receiver Niles Paul said Lee is just fine. Paul said he just played catch with him this past weekend, and that Lee was really firing the football. Pelini said Lee is 100 percent heading into the start of fall practice, which is less than two weeks away. "He's gotten to a hundred percent," Pelini said Monday during Big 12 Media Days. "It's probably been a couple of weeks now. He's throwing the ball really well. We were just talking about how much pop he has and how good he's throwing." ... Lee started the 2009 season strong with good performances in three of the first four games. He completed 15-of-22 passes for 213 yards and two touchdowns in the opener against Florida Atlantic, then connected on 27-of-35 passes for 340 yards and four touchdowns against Arkansas State.

Numbers against Fl Atlantic and Ark State SHOULD be that high for any QB in Div 1.

If it wasn't, he'd be riding the pine bench this season.

Yep.I was hoping when it said "Lee is just fine" it would be about his sister Jenna. Ne has a go nowhere offense with him at the helm.

If the article were about Jenna Lee, the headline would read "Lee is SO FINE".

I thought Lara Logan deserves a photo, since I was on the subject of news chicks.

I did the Google, but needed to verify which J. Lee she was. In my research I did find another Jenna Lee that was a longhorns fan but was not a fan of clothing.

I think that J. Lee is a Long Whorn

You're probably right, sir. Even though it was his first experience as the starting QB and he played most of the year injured, I'm sure there is zero chance he's improved at all. Players generally tend to remain at the same level throughout their playing careers, and if they aren't stellar those first few games, perhaps it's best to disgard them and find someone else. Now, if you use that logic with Garrett Gilbert, Texas should finish third or fourth in the south.....

Doesn't Nebraska have a redshirt freshman QB on the roster who did really well in the Spring?

Zac Lee just needs to be functional. The go nowhere offense last year was because the starting I back was severely injured after game five, the back-up broke his foot and was out for multiple games and the original number 2 or co 1 got booted for marijuana. I'm guessing if Texas had a damaged Colt McCoy all last season and a patchwork running game of an injured number 1 and filling in with 4th and 5th stringers, they probably wouldn't have made the NC game.

LOL. Comparing Lee's skill set to Gilberts.

I didn't. I merely used your logic that players can't improve with experience and overcoming adversity. You have to admint that if Gilbert plays exactly the same over the next few years as he did in the NC game with no improvement, Texas will lose a fair number of games. So, if it's cool to assume Gilbert will improve over time, why is it not cool to assume Lee will get better? Don't get me wrong, Gilbert is far and away the more talented QB, but I truly believe Lee will improve markedly this year and NE will not have a "go nowhere offense". But why debate this now? Let's see what the Big XII landscape looks like on Oct 17th. I see one team as being undefeated with an inside track to the NC game, and ther other slinking back to Austin with their tails between their legs....

It's the old debate-do you use a more talented QB or the one with experience and leadership. The fall camp will tell us a lot, but I think Lee will be starting on Sept 4...

What's up with Fox News? A friend of mine from HS is a photog for Fox News, and she's been smokin' since Junior High! Why Fox News? Am I missing something?

They're more than welcome to join us in Austin. 6th Street clubs, great BBQ, hot coeds.... I can see it being much easier for them to get their minds off of their devastation if they visit Austin rather than stay in Lincoln.

Man, I simply cannot wait for Oct 16th to get here! It should prove to be one helluva game! Now, as for the 6th St clubs, great BBQ and hot coeds, I'm sure they's all love to have us come down after whipping up on the 'horns. The hot coeds would probably prefer some winners after the game instead of the 'horns, and I know our guys would prefer Texas girls to the cornfed Nebraska women they're used to.....

the hotter the girls are the less likely you are to be critical of what it is they are saying. Just nod along.

They do have a lot of hot "reporters" on that channell though and are always really dolled-up.

After last year the offensive coordinator took a lot of heat from the fans....we'll see because the expectations for Nebr. fans are high. Last year in the Big 12......everyone from Nebraska wants a conference title!
