OU's Murray an A.P. in the making?

08:18 AM ET 07.29 | Bob Stoops is setting the bar awfully high. Which is why he told the Big 12 media Tuesday that the Sooners would like to use running back DeMarco Murray similar to the way they used Adrian Peterson. "I really believe coming into this year, with his experience, his ability to not only run but to catch the ball out of the backfield, we really anticipate him having a big year," Stoops said. "We're hoping similar to a guy like Adrian Peterson, that kind of opportunity to run the ball or have his hands on the ball that number of times." Like the 339 carries Peterson had in his freshman season, which led the nation and solidified the nickname "All Day"? Like the 1,925 yards rushing he had that season? "That's fine with me," Murray said when told of the comment. "Adrian is a good friend of mine and I've talked to him about how do you do this and how do you do that. I do feel if I am healthy, I could have a better year than him."

"No". That's it? Can you elaborate?

The kid is pretty good, but the DMN needs to ease up just a litle bit on the comparisons to AP.

I'm a Sooner Fan until the day I die, BUT, there is no chance in hell he's the next AD. I say he rushes for 1,200 yards tops... And that's only if he stays healthy all season.

Man that kind of pressure is just plain unfair

Sure. Murray is a good player but he is no AP. Dont go there. That would be like saying player XX is the next Tebow in the making.

Jeezum H Kryst in a chicken basket. I f'in hate "the next..."!!!

Hi, GIE.

no

I do feel if I am healthy, I could have a better year than him.

Well, I admire the confidence even though I'm skeptical about the outcome.

You misspelled "Tyler Bray". There's no "XX" in his name.

Newsrooms in the South tend to have more Krispy Kreme doughnuts on the desks than Fritos.

OK. This was good but...No one wants the size of fat cody. Not sure if LeGarrettes temperament is goodandI am sure you meant Nick Montana's blood alcohol.

I read yesterday that Cody failed his physical with his NFL team (Ravens maybe?) and is on the PUP list now. Manzere anyone???

I am a Horn fan and I approve this message. The stay healthy part will be the first time in his career if it happens. He was, IMO, one of the very best pre-injury but he knee injury among others seems to have slowed his explosiveness. He's still good if healthy.

Boomer Sooner All Day! but I totally agree with FJJ that Murray has not shown his original explosiveness post-injury, otherwise he would have come out last year with Bradford, thus he will never measure up to expectations of being the next AD Peterson

Well he is certainly in the right conference to have a huge offensive year. Just not enough Mark Ingrams go go around:) oh wait, the other running back listed pre-season all SEC is our other back Richardson. Good luck though Oklahoma, I always enjoy your fight song. Its kitchy:)

Ball security was not one of the questions answered by AP.
