Niemi on way out of Chicago?

08:48 AM ET 07.31 | The excitement of many of the players reuniting for the 2010 Blackhawks Convention was tempered a bit by who wasn't at the event, and that included Antti Niemi. The starting goaltender could be on his way out in a manner similar to the trading of Dustin Byfuglien, Andrew Ladd, Kris Versteeg, Brent Sopel, Colin Fraser and Ben Eager and those going to free agency, Adam Burish and John Madden.

I agree DC. But if the interns can recycle so can we. I lifted this from yesterday. It's too good to get lost at the end of an old thread.
The Eskies have made a request to the CFL head office to change their name to the Edmonton Maple Leafs.
Thanks W2 for my first good laugh of the morning.

LOL! True. Very true! Except that, unlike the Leafs, the Eskies managed to pull out a win last night. Thanks for the second good laugh of the morning!

Nobody knows. I hear the arbitrator was busy trying to determine if HC's ride lasted a full 8 seconds last night.

They have 48 hours to announce it. It should come out this morning and then the Hawks will have 48 hours to call Turko.

Lazy interns. If you wanted to bring back a Niemi story, you should've wait at least until the arbitrator made a decision so we'd have something new to talk about in here.

I hope Campbell, Huet, and Hossa were worth all the trouble. They probably cost Chicago another championship.

$2.75 mil I guess that means the end of the Niemi threads .I can't believe he got such a low award with Halak getting 3.75 and Ward after winning the cup as a rookie 3.5 .Bet this'll scare the rest of the players to settle before arbitration (unless they were offered a 2-way)

1 year @ $2.75M. Little Stanley is calling his mom (sorry - his dad) to find out what to do.

Well Marty now has two choices Washington or Philly at even less than he would have figured (2.0-2.25 Mil)

At $2.75M. they'll keep him. He's a bargain compared to Huet. They still might have to part ways with Niemi or another player just to stay under the cap but ... this buys them some time.
What millstones around their necks Huet, Campbell and Hossa have become. At least Campbell and Hossa can play. But , Huet? They'll have to wave him and send him to Rockford or buy him out.

BTW, what's this thing about Georges Laraque being named Deputy Leader of the Green Party? What in blazes is that all about? Is that some kind of support group for neutered NHL heavyweight castoffs?

They could always peddle Huet and Campbell to Dull-az Stools and the Ana-ducks ( one to each - plus a #1 swap for Huet - straight up for the #1 for Bri-baby), and start next year's First-er derby in earnest - for Ernest Superslapperboffosocko from Fort McTarsands that is with the hot inside, for at least two of the top three spots, anyway. And HEY, they could swap Marians with Sather AND agree to take on Redden too, if Glen throws in his #1 - Hox could balance it with their #2 and #3. Then Lil' Stanley could have #'s 1, 2, and 3 overall, all butt sewn up, and then all he'd have to do is place Redden on waivers, or play him in the minors, or trade him for a ninth rounder, to ???, or, cut him outright - when he doesn't make the Beegas Club come October 8 or 9.
